Brunchin at 📍IF up north🥓🥞🍳🍸 - Leeds’s newest fave brunch spot was on my list for so long, so I was so happy to finally give it a go! This is IF located on call lane, serving all things brunch - sweet, savoury, pastries, cocktails, coffees and more! - Their iced mocha was honestly 10/10 - super sweet and refreshing. I went for the Complete IF which was packed with flavour, but they forgot my avocado which looking back would’ve made this soooo much nicer :( would love to go back and try again for the proper full experience! - #food #foodie #foodtok #foodtiktok #foodvlog #foodblog #foodblogger #leeds #leedsfood #leedsfoodie #leedsbrunch #ifupnorth #brunch #brunchtok #leedscafe #leedsbreakfast #calllane #foodies #eatwithme #wieinad

Visited for breakfast/brunch and was left with rather mixed feelings. This is a popular/busy venue so opted to stay and wait 10-15 minutes for a table. Was given a menu to browse whilst waiting and was seated by a lovely lady. She was running around taking orders/ seating everyone/ running food - all with a smile on her face. There was only one other server and the restaurant was busy. We were seated - waited another 10/15 minutes to order drinks - took them a while to visit the upstairs floor. After having the menu for 10 minutes whilst waiting outside - really didn’t need that much time. The table was extremely sticky - felt like you were peeling your arm off of it whenever you moved. It was clean, just seemed like whatever spray is being used needs to be replaced. Ordered two hot drinks and some water and ordered our food. Hot drinks came and we assumed the water would come up after - it didn’t. Food took about 50 minutes, in which time we had finished our drinks and no one had checked in. So when food came we asked for water and some sauce. The sriracha bottle that was delivered was dirty - dried and hardened sauce running down it. The water eventually arrived too. My meal was really good and nicely presented. However, paid an extra 3/4 quid for two barely grilled pieces of limp halloumi and half of my companion’s breakfast wrap was missing salsa. The drinks were also good when we had them and the coffee was really nice. Clearly really busy - two tables sat dirty right next to us for over an hour, piled up. People sat with dirty plates in front of them for 45+ minutes until they decided to leave. One toilet, up stairs and water on the floor. The entire thing was just subpar - the waitress was great but clearly needed another member on the floor. Seemed like one person was left to do everything and it really showed in the service as one person cannot be doing everything. It’s unfortunate as I enjoyed my food and my drink - the overall experience was just not great.

Had very high hopes but was let down unfortunately. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed as you'd expect it to be. The service was Ok, very slow to be seated despite plenty tables seeming available. Appeared only one person was cleaning , setting and arranging the tables whilst the other two were just serving the food. When seated the service was fast and friendly though. The menu was tired and not clean physically. Mainly let down by the food, extortionate price £12.80 for "full Yorkshire" which is essentially a full English with items removed. Hash brown resembles a McDonald's hash brown which was concerning for the amount of oil used. The bacon was actually two rashers and not one as first thought, but they were fried together as one?? No baked beans but a mix bean medley. No black pudding and just one slice of fried sourdough. Sausage and mushrooms were nice. Tomato was sitting around the kitchen for a while I fear. The pancakes were burnt on both sides and smothered in the Nutella to cover it up. I want to give this place another go but maybe at a different location and certainly different food choice.

I’ve never had an experience quite like this, and not in a good way. While the food was genuinely delicious (credit to the hardworking chef), the service was beyond terrible.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear the waitress had no interest in doing her job. She was busy flirting and chatting with a man at the bar while the kitchen bell rang non-stop. Tables, including ours, sat waiting to order and one table had a jug of water but no glasses — which, as we later discovered, was a trend for the day.

We sat for 15 minutes without being acknowledged. I eventually had to approach the chef to ask for a menu. Another 15 minutes passed before a different waiter asked us if we "wanted anything else" — only to realise we hadn’t even ordered, and there were still dirty mugs and plates from the previous customers on our table.

When we finally ordered with the girl, we also asked for water. We got a jug but, once again, no glasses. The same happened to the table behind us. After asking for glasses, the waitress brought them over, slammed them on the table, and snapped, "Here, they’re obscenely hot though." I assume she was waiting for the glasswasher to finish, but why not just tell us that when she gave us the jug of water? It was unnecessary attitude for something so simple.

When the food finally arrived, she dropped off our plates but no cutlery. We had to ask for that too. She handed it to us without a single word, let alone an apology. Her entire attitude was rude, cold, and completely unprofessional.

Meanwhile, she continued to chat to her colleague at the bar, sipping a Fanta, while customers sat waiting for basic things like waiting to order, water, and cutlery. The chef, on the other hand, seemed to be doing everything — cooking and delivering food to tables.

If management reads this, I strongly suggest retraining or rethinking who you have on the front-of-house team (the young girl with long brown hair who was working today). I’ve never encountered a waitress with such blatant disregard for her customers. I would happily return for the food alone, but I refuse to come back if this person is working. It is such a shame for the colleagues who have to work doubly as hard to compensate for her...

Decided to call in for some food after a trip into Leeds with my girlfriend. We were seated relatively quickly after waiting outside for maybe five minutes or so. After about 10 minutes of deciding from the menu we ordered after being told about a 30 minute wait for food. This was fine, and expected due to the place being very busy.

Our drinks came after a couple of minutes served by, who I assume now, was managing the shift. 2 minutes later our drinks arrived again. Some lack of communication I think. at 12:30 my girlfriend's food arrived and looked good. A new waiter, presumably kitchen staff as this was his first appearance, brought my girlfriend's plate out and asked if there was just the one meal or two. We told him there was a second dish, the Reuben Benedict. He checked with the kitchen and there had been a 'loss of communication with that part of the order' and assured me my meal would be 2 minutes tops. After 5 minutes or so the meal arrived, with my girlfriend having finishing hers (I told her to eat up and not wait, no sense in having two late meals). My meal was very tasty, however my girlfriend was disappointed at the Eggs Benedict, which had no seasoning whatsoever. This all occurred whilst the manager was rushed off her feet, tidying and seating guests as quickly as she could, with the other staff members being seemingly uninterested, I imagine the reason the Kitchen staff had to come to the floor to serve.

In fairness to the staff (Manager and Kitchen staff specifically) they were apologetic and added a 15% discount to the bill, with the other staff on shift providing truly shoddy service, one in particular looking like it was an utter chore to be at work, being asked several times by the manager to 'clear and clean tables', often being on her phone as much as possible.

All in all a really disappointing experience, considering the warm and welcoming reviews published here and on other review sites. I hope my next visit here will quash any negative feelings...

Unnecessary confrontation from the Barista. It just felt like they know they get busy anyway so they don't care if they lose customers or not.

Its a shame because the food and the ladies that served us were very nice and welcoming despite it being busy when we arrived.

Ordered 2 ice mochas and they were both different colours when they were served. One was much darker and one was light and creamy like a latte. I tried both and the lighter one had very little sweetness and chocolate taste to it. It's £3.50 for a small glass of ice mocha and honestly, the darker one was a really decent coffee. I asked the waitress if I could get it changed, which she said was no problem. It came back the same colour and I noticed they just added some chocolate powder in it because my straw was still in there or at least it looked like it had been used already. It wasn't the best tasting because all I could taste was lumps of chocolate powder.

I was annoyed at this point because I didn't want to send it back again but I was not enjoying my drink. I sent it back again when my food arrived and the barrista came out and told me he was not making it again because its "just coffee and chocolate". He tried to explain to me the process of making this drink. He said it was a system and that's what he follows, to which I explained that I don't understand how he can make a nice one and one that's not. He did say he could make me something else but I declined his offer because he was being confrontational and it made me feel uncomfortable while I was trying to enjoy some good food.

I don't think I was being unreasonable sending the drink back. I didn't cause a fuss and I didn't blame anyone for it. I never send anything back, and I have worked in the food industry myself to know full well that this is not how customers should be spoken to, especially when the customer did not start confrontation in the first place. I don't think they care if they lose customers or not really since it seems like they're busy...
