Beautiful classic music. Mozart slaps. Chicken was crispy. Chips were plummy. Bubble tea looked good but I’m still scared from when I nearly died having a previous boba tea and choked on the bubbles. However I’d maybe be willing to try again in the near future based on this place. Not yet though still need more therapy. I appreciated the little stick to check the crispiness of the chicken. Can confirm it was crispy. Colleague got given extra chips cause they thought they’d still be hungry having only ordered the tofu. They chickened out of getting any meat (ahaha). I appreciate that it’s a nice touch. Table was clean and had 4 legs. Self service machine was hard to work for my colleague but I think they’re just a bit thick tbf. Tornado potato blew me away (ahaha) Bubble tea was 100% sugar which is good cause I’m so sweet (ahahah). Overall a solid choice for food. 10/10 would recommend to a hungry friend. Or one who isn’t hungry but they may not want to eat as much. Yellow bag was very yellow reminded me of the sun from the teletubbies very mindful very demure. Only ketchup could’ve done with mayo as well Atmosphere was good but did start raining...
Read morePlease be careful eating the chicken there. I decided to try this chicken shop after one of my friend's recommended me. Thinking that I will get some delicious fried chicken, I opted for chicken karaage to try. When I got my food, I did not however, expect it to be still quacking! As I bit into one of the pieces, I was surprised with a bright pink, raw inside. My friend agreed with me that it was indeed undercooked and I should ask for a remake.
When I told one of the staff about my food being undercooked, the staff member tried rather awkwardly explain to me that the chicken was supposed to this colour but agreed to remake my food. I received my new batch of karaage, now far better cooked but still a lil bit pink in some places. The staff bringing my new food also tried to explain why the chicken was supposed to be this colour despite me knowing that fried chicken certainly should not be pink!
The place is nicely decorated and clean though! Shame the toilet was not accessible and there was no staff to help me...
Read moreWe got the chicken breast, the chicken karaage, and the plum chips
Chicken breast: this is one of their original items and is surprisingly moist and tender. The skin is also very crispy if you eat in, however, at take out it may get a bit soggy. They offer a range of spices for self selection (I got for 2x garlic, 1x chilli) and allows you to customize to your liking.
Chicken karaage: this is a Japanese specialty that is made of small pieces of chicken thigh coated in a starchy batter. The chicken was even more tender than the breast and the coating was amazingly crunchy. 10/10.
Plum chips: the most important thing to note is the humongous portion- you're better off sharing between 2 people. The sweetness of the plum spice works wonder with the chips. Their old chips were thin and extremely crunchy but they're now making them a bit thicker and resulted in them being slightly soggy at take-out.
All in all, a solid meal and Ji's chicken shop...
