Awful 😖 being accused of shop lifting days prior to ever visiting leeds, in front of public & retailers!!! We come from down Kent, visiting family in huddersfeild! Decided to check out the market in leeds as was informed hudderfeilds one hasnt been as good as it used to be since covid. We were there just over an hr & left sharp after being embarrassed infront of public & retailers. The market is lovely & happy to help. Then we thought we'll walk round, have a look. We went to window shop in the designer area, maybe find something to save up for & was told by TINA we weren't allowed in that area as there's been few cases of shop lifting! Excuse Me 😲! Me & my partner were then barred from re entering that area again! We offered our ID we offered proof, but was not listened to or given the chance to vindicate ourselves, when trying to speak to others members of security to try get our point across. Tina stopped all other security we tried to talk to & get our point across & told them to walk away from us, bk into the shopping centre, where we werent now allowed to go, being law abiding citizens we did not re enter. I said I was gonna complain & she outrightly said make sure u get my name right, it's TINA security for the shopping centre. Assuming guilt when not investigated properly. Also For the retailer I believe to be MODA that's the only shop we went into for less than a minute! We also stopped at louis vuitton but they were very nice & gave me prices for 2 desiger bags i may save for, I went inside there & i believe my partner was the supposed offender, as tina started to approach her as I was leaving louis. Made remarks that referred to my partner being the thief, but also said i need to keep my hands in my pockets, so abit confusing who's meant to have done what in the past few days. Surely facts & proof should be apparent when treating people in such a manner in public. We were Assumed thieves & prevented proving we werent thieves. We were not suited & booted in our designer gear, didnt realise that we had to be to shop there 💁♀️ Discrimination & narrow minded, not a nice place to visit, unless u "fit in" around such shops & have 3k on u to buy a bag or a pair of shoes. Shameful 😤 so if your the average joe & don't look like 🤑 everyday, u may want to steer clear, Save the embarrassment of being wrongly accused of...
Read moreVictoria Quarter is one half of Victoria Leeds; a beautiful shopping district recognised as the premium shopping area in the North of England.
Victoria Quarter was originally designed by architect Frank Matcham. He used rich marbles, gilded mosaics, handsome cast and wrought iron, as well as carved and polished mahogany, to create two streets, two arcades and the Empire Theatre (now Harvey Nichols). Today Matcham’s work has been sympathetically restored to its original splendour, introducing the style and creativity of the present. Victoria Quarter brings together brands such as Ted Baker, Vivienne Westwood, Coach, Loake, French Connection, Space NK, Hobbs and Jigsaw, as well as being home to the first Harvey Nichols store outside London.
Victoria Quarter forms part of Victoria Leeds, which brings together Victoria Quarter and Victoria Gate to deliver the most vibrant new shopping scene and destination in Leeds city centre. Victoria Leeds is situated at the heart of the Leeds shopping area, with a 800+ space car park, close to both bus and railway stations and taxi ranks. The Grade II* listed Victoria Quarter, known as 'the Knightsbridge of the North',[3] is an upmarket network of interconnected shopping spaces covering three blocks between Briggate and Vicar Lane, comprising County Arcade, Cross Arcade, Queen Victoria Street (turned into an arcade in the 1989 redevelopment scheme through the pedestrianisation and glazing over of the street[4] with what was at the time the largest secular stained glass work in the world)[5] and King Edward Street. A lot of unique history and spectacular art work right next to you available on display, from the walls, floors and cielings. A most to see and to explore when you are...
Read moreAccording to the blurb, the 'Victoria Quarter' is 'the Knightsbridge of the North'.....which sounds pretty impressive but assumes you have been to knightsbridge. Personally, I would forget comparisions or boasts about 'premium' shopping, just go and gaze at the fantastic architecture. Built around the 1900's it is an amazing example of overblown baroque victoriana........everthing is so over the top in a heavy cast iron & marble sort of way. I did find it a bit awe inspiring....and that's before checking the prices. We were there on a damp Tuesday and as it was quiet it had a cathedral feel about it. And don't just look up. The mosaic floor impress...actually even the drain coves are a work of art. The shopping is superb but the real stars are the buildings. Each of the Arcades is different and it is well worth checking them all. As per usual we did not have a huge amount of time and many of the surrounding buildings are very interesting. There is parking right in the centre of the city but we used the park and ride from Ellen Rd, very reasonable (just pay for the bus) and swift.....and helpful staff too. The whole area is pretty accessible but some of the walkway are narrow and I bet it gets crowded at peak times. The whole area is a credit to those who bult them and to those who restored them after they fell into disrepair. Brilliant...and I don't even...
