It is the place to go! Definitely an excuse to take pictures. It’s so beautiful inside. We arrived at the Ivy for brunch with a warm welcome and friendly staff. They led us to our booked table and took our coats to the cloak room and gave us a ticket. I had a cup of tea, a drink called “beet it” which contained of (beetroot, apple, lemon and ginger). For my main I had Eggs Royale and chips, which contained of smoked salmon, two poached eggs, toasted English muffins, hollandaise sauce, watercress and thick cut chips. It was so delicious. The rooms are beautifully decorated it feels very high class and reasonably priced. However when we asked for the bill and say they already applied the gratuity we said we were not going to pay for the gratuity the waitress kindly took it off and gave us the new bill. There’s nothing worse than automatically adding it on. Thereafter the manager instantly came over and asked us why we were not paying it. I felt personally attacked. There were a number of factors why we didn’t want to pay it i.e. they took our tea milk away from us whilst we were having tea.... I couldn’t hear the waitress when she spoke.... I didn’t like where we were sat, next to the toilets, next to where the staff were walking in and out. Overall it was a lovely experience and will come back but I didn’t think there was any need to interrogate why we didn’t tip, that ruined it for me. I was going to but not when it’s automatically applied.

Food outstanding!! Arrived super hot but a little too quick would have liked a little more time in between ordering and between courses. Whereas the drink service was really slow. We were asked to make our food selection before our drinks arrived, I like to worry the menu with drink in hand. When we ordered dessert I ordered another drink, dessert arrived and was eaten before drink ever arrived. We ended up cancelling the drink as it took so long. The venue itself is super lovely and fancy. We got sat by the door which was a shame as we didnt get to see the rest of the resturant unless we went to the loo, plus it was constantly busy with ppl coming and going. The staff were so lovely, polite and v attentive, it was just the drink service which let the place down (we were drinking bottled ales and G&Ts so not fancy time consuming drinks to prepare) We had the twice baked cheese souffle (which was outstanding) and the scallops. Followed by chicken milenase (the sauce is wow) and peruvian chicken, both with parmasan chips, again both delish (we ordered 2 portions of chips but should have only got 1 as so full). We then shared the chocolate bombe...wow delish. We went home full, which is rare for such a nice resturant. Plus very reasonably priced for the quality. We thorougly enjoyed our visit, will recommend to others and will be going back again

I have been to the Ivy at least 8 to 9 times over the last 6 to 8 months and normally go for breakfast with my mother at least once a month as my mother likes the environment in the restaurant. The food is generally good, however, my last few visits the service has been poor to mediocre at best. I visited this morning with my mother for breakfast, a little bit of a wait to get served, the waiter was apologetic of the wait when they came over to take our orders. Food came in fairly quickly after order, however, during the meal no waiters came to check if everything was ok, this had been typical for my last few visits. When we finished it took a long while, over 25 minutes to get a waiter to provide the bill, the waiters were not attentive what so ever, for over 20 minutes couldn’t make eye contact with a waiter to ask for the bill. I had to get up and go to the bar area to ask for the bill which was provided quickly after. My last visit before was about a month ago and again the inattentive service and long wait to get the bill at the end of our meal. To be fair to them it was very busy this morning but still I would expect better service, I have been before when busy and service has been good.

Overall for my last few visits the food has been good but service has been mediocre and probably not worth the service fee. Today I called the restaurant afterwards to give them some feedback on my experience today and the last few visits. The manager on call said they would call me back in an hour, which now several hours later has not occurred. Which in my opinion may indicate the level of service at the moment given that I would have expected them to at least take on board my feedback given that we have been a few times before.

Overall from my experience I would look to go elsewhere for a better overall experience which is a shame as the generally the ambiance and...

We went here for my birthday dinner. We arrived at 8pm and by 8 30pm we didn't even have a drink in front of us. Yet tables around us were getting what I can only describe as a VIP experience, particularly the couple beside us, who were obviously regulars. We were actually close to walking out when the drinks arrived. We made our thoughts clear to the waitress who said she would speak to management. Obviously, we wanted to enjoy the meal so didn't ask for an outcome of this discussion and tried to enjoy the meal. My husband and son had steak and really enjoyed it. The food is great as were my scallops and sea bass, mine were tepid in temperature though, particularly the scallops. Throughout the meal we had to ask for drinks..we only had 3, but every time, there was a period where we ran out and waited to be asked. We really felt the waiting staff in our part of the restaurant, were either stressed or didn't care. When the bill arrived there was no attempt to correct the earlier mistake. When I mentioned this to the waitress, she said I didn't say I would remove the drinks, I said I would speak to the manager. At this point we weren't prepared to discuss it further. For the first time in my life (as I was once a waitress myself) I asked her to remove the 15% service charge. I explained my point of view to the waitress who said she would pass on my thoughts. So disappointing given the recommendations from friends and...
