Appalling service for matters that shouldn't go wrong. A pot of tea between 2 ordered, along with a glass of orange juice. OJ never arrived even though we asked again TWICE, the only response we received was that 'I'm sure it's coming'. Never did. We resorted to using the free water but this quickly became empty and wasn't refilled for a good 30 mins.
It took an hour for our food order to be taken which is astonishing. IT was table service but I had to go to the bar to ask the first time and was told they've be out soon to take the order. Never happened. Went back in to find two waitresses leaning again the wall giggling so requested one come out to take our order; only to be met with an eyeroll!
Order finally take and advised 45 minute wait. Not great but at least we were advised so as to make a decision to stay or not. We stayed on the basis that the food was great and we not let down by this. It is a shame that the gluten free option was to remove breaded items completely as opposed to have a gluten free bread. No change in price despite less food.
When it came to the bill, again, this wasn't received when requested nor was it communicated to us that it was pay at the bar. Not a problem to pay at the desk, must wish we were told. Went to pay and the lady that served us asked where we were sat. It's a small venue, lack of memory here was surprising. No bill was provided, only a request to pay £30 so I asked for a copy of the bill so I could check if items we didn't received were present and to remove service charge, for obvious reasons. Thankfully we weren't charged for the OJ and service charge wasn't automatically applied. We paid and left with a bitter aftertaste.
Loaf is a great location and great food so I strongly suggest that whoever manages the venue get their act together and sort their staff and...
Read moreWe nipped in this morning for a quick Sunday morning breakfast. We’ve been coming here since it was Sebby’s and has generally been a nice reliable place for breakfast and brunch.
I was quite impressed by the menu, it had a nice mix of traditional brunchy style stuff with a few more exciting dishes like a szechuan pork belly dish, and smashed peas on toast. I had the black bean hash with extra bacon (usually comes with chorizo but I’m not a big fan) while my husband had a veggie halloumi breakfast bun thing.
Both were really tasty. Every part of my meal was cooked well, and the potatoes were so crisp and fluffy. My only criticism was that it was a little over salted even in the absence of bacon. The egg and crème fraiche balanced it out a little though. But overall I’d order it again and it was exceptional value for money given the portion size and the quality of the food.
Service was friendly and swift, and there was a steady flow of people through the cafe without being overwhelming so the atmosphere was nice. Would have loved to buy a breakfast pastry but it was only cake on offer at the counter (albeit delicious looking cake!)
I ordered a chai latte which was creamy and spicy and served in generous sized cup. One of the nicer chai lattes I’ve had. Overall I paid £30 for the two of us, which I think is very reasonable given the quality of the food and drink.
We will continue to come here, and I’m keen to try a few of the other menu items. We’ve been going to a few similar style places in Leeds for breakfast and while others have dipped in service/range/food quality, Loaf seems to have maintained its...
Read moreI was recommended this place for breakfast and I wasn't dissapointed. It has a lovely friendly atmosphere and the decor is lovely.....I was won over by the flamingo cushions as I'm a bit obsessed with the pink birds. In fact I'm visiting Leeds from Poole to get a flamingo tattoo just around the corner from this deli/coffee house!!! There is an abundance of green plants dotted about the place too, which reminds me of being at home and I have a mutual respect for anyone else who has green fingers.
The menu was a real treat too as there was a vast selection of tasty treats with plenty of healthy, but yummy options to pick from too.
I opted for Sebby's Eggs, which is a delicious combo of hash browns, smoked bacon, poached eggs, guacamole and lemon hollandaise sauce. I wasn't dissapointed and wish I had a larger appetite so I could have tried the cinnamon toast or homemade cakes that were tempting me on display right in front of me.
The coffee was beautifully presented and freshly ground. The cappuccino tasted smooth and rich with a lovely smooth head floating on top with a dusting of choc juat as expected.
There is fresh drinking water available on the counter and it looks it's a dog friendly place, always a winner in my eyes, as there is a doggy water bowl by the front door.
I'm happy to have discovered Sebbys for my breakfast and will be back for a Buddha bowl for inch of I am allowed to escape my tattoo artist's clutches for...
