Visited here as the start of the Otley Run and can honestly say it was the worst customer service I have ever experienced. We weren’t a rowdy group of uni students, we were a family and couple of close friends completing the Otley run for my 23rd birthday. We got sat down on a table and one of the bar staff asked my mum if she could move one of the tables out of the way, my mum obliged but the women got in the way and my mum ended up knocking her wine over. She politely asked if they would be able to replace her wine as it was the bar women who asked her to move the table and then got in a way. The barmaid was rude and demanded my mum paid for another, my mum then asked to speak to a manager. The manager was also very rude to which my mum responded “your customer service is a disgrace” with that the manager took out his phone to take a photo of my mum. As any normal person would my mum and sister reacted by placing their hands up/move the phone out of their face. The staff then accused them of swinging for members off staff. My mum then left, and the rest of us who were oblivious to all this going on as we were sat playing connect for were then asked to leave. The staff behind the bad started shouting at us how they were going to ruin our night as we won’t get in anywhere now they have taken a picture of our whole group and put it in a Pub Watch group. If this wasn’t bad enough. We later got hold of the messages that were sent to the pub watch group. A member of staff at woodies had called my mum in a public forum a f*ing crk and a silly b**ch. I think this is disgusting to not only treat your customers like this but then to go and pubically abuse them is outrageous. Definitely will not be visiting...
Read moreI used to really love Woodies but in the 5 years I've lived within walking distance, it has gone downhill rapidly. I don't go in anywhere near as often as 2/3 years ago as staff became very cliquey and the current manager took over. The new 'paint job' outside is the absolute final straw.
The beer garden was a bit of a jewel for Woodies but the new paint job, seemingly sponsored by Madri, is atrocious. EVERYTHING is bright red, the walls, table tops, fence, the small bar...! Bearing in mind Woodies is in Leeds, within a mile of Yorkshire CC's Headingley Stadium, who on earth agreed to that?!
It also seems like a group of small children have done it, as the paint along the walls and fence is an absolute mess...It is an awful colour to be surrounded by in a bright outdoor area.
The current manager, who I've watched point blank ignore myself and other customers on many occasions, is argumentative and just plain rude. When raising issues with her she seems to lack the basic ability to listen and solve problems...
Live music on a Friday evening is a great idea but half of the singers are too loud, and really not good...you cant hear anybody else to have a conversation in the main area for a good 2 hours of a Friday night? If you can't get good enough singers I think just have a week off!
Such a shame as the beer selection is really good and it just needs someone to run it...
Read moreDisgusting service. Visited here for my girlfriends birthday with some of her family and close friends. There was a misunderstanding about a spilt drink to which my girlfriends mum went to ask if it could be replaced. Both the manager and barmaid were rude and disrespectful. Taking pictures of my girlfriends mum to put in a pub watch group and accusing her of swinging for members of staff. When in fact she was just trying to block the photo as any normal human being would. The picture was then posted to a public group by a member of woodies staff followed by some very abusive text calling my girlfriends mum a f*ing crk and a silly b**ch. Not only this but all the staff started to shout how they are going to ruin our night, even though we had done nothing wrong. Well at least I didn’t think sitting quietly and playing connect four was wrong. I think the whole situation was blown out of proportion by both the bar staff and manager and handled with very...
