Unfriendly, unwelcoming and certainly not family friendly.Arrived at 7.45 after travelling down from Scotland. Waited at entrance for 5 minutes on waitress to come and attend to us . She carried on fiddling with something and my husband then said can we please have a table? Im afraid that kids need to be off the premises for 9 we were told. We said we would be quick and had booked in at our hotel restraint but they had to close kitchen as there had been a sudden death and therefore we tried here.reluctantly she said yes and we sat at a table. At no time did she come to tell us how to order, clean the table or clear the debris on table. We asked to order and she pointed at the bar...you order there. After our fourth adult choice, we eventually got something they could provide. In fairness it was okay and arrived quickly however my son ordered sausage and mash. We asked for some gravy. It arrived without any and we said to the waitress we had asked for this.....again, unhelpful but said she would ask....no we don't have any. We had to leave the mash as it was not very appetising to say the least. What a disappointing experience here, and a very poor advert for Wetherspoons and this place. We certainly won t be back. I'd suggest people try somewhere else as this was a...
Read moreClever scam to sell manky meat, but why not just serve decent food? I ordered a steak. A minute after the food arrived on my table a staff member checked if it was ok, I said it was overdone and dry, she didn't look surprised. When I tasted it it was even worse than it looked. It was dry, chewy, overcooked and old tasting, like liver. The next time I saw a member of staff was when I was about to leave, I showed her my "steak" and she agreed it was rank and manky, "you can't eat THAT!" she said and got me a manager. The manager said it was "policy" to not make ammends or offer basic customer service if you said it was OK when they checked. I tried to explain that they checked before I'd even had chance to assess if it was any good (I was penalised for giving THEM the benefit of the doubt). To be fair the manager looked embarrassed and was clearly used to this happening. It's a clever way to make money on food that shouldn't really be sold to humans, but a pretty nasty way to do it. I don't expect Wetherspoons to treat customers like a proper pub or restaurant would, but nor do I expect such contempt...
Read moreStarted off really well, then went downhill. No problems at the bar. Staff friendly and quick service. The food part however didn't go so well. I was brought a burger that I didn't order. It was for the table next to me. More annoying was that they had ordered after me (I was dining alone). After watching all their food come out (5 people), I was then approached by a staff member who asked if I was waiting on a mixed grill (I heard another member ask the girl if she had found the mixed grill table). I was. This come over and the baked potato had a skin that even a leather manufacturer would refuse to work with. The remaining food was to my liking I must add. The most irritating part was the staff member who was cleaning the table next to me (from earlier) and put his bowl of dirty dishes on my table, whilst I was still eating, as he cleaned their table. I was still eating!!! I would say he need training but this was common sense. If anyone from this pub reads this, please view the CCTV footage for 8pm on Tuesday 15th Jan for table 13. You will see the event and...
