We booked for valentines day to do something special. They rang the week before to push the time of our table back slightly, no problem. However, as soon as we walked in, I knew we'd made a big mistake. We were immediately challenged about the time of our table and told that we had 1.5 hours before we had to get out. They meant it too as I watched them repeatedly remind the table across from us, then get them to pay before they'd finished eating. I also saw another couple get turned away because the owner had made a mistake with their booking. He was apologetic, but there was no way they'd have got another table anywhere else that night - trust me, if I thought there was even a slim chance I'd have left. We were handed a menu, but told that we couldn't order anything from it other than hot food because they were just doing a set valentines day platter - this was not explained beforehand. When I asked what that would be, the waitress said that it was the chefs choice. Next we ordered drinks, no beer, no wine, I ended up with a diet coke in the can sucked through a straw. After waiting almost half of our alloted time, our food arrived. I wasn't impressed because it wasn't what I would have ordered myself. The food wasn't explained, which I didn't care about because I just wanted to get out of there, but I heard other people asking, and generally just sounding quite confused about what was happening. The paper valentines notes on the table were dirty on our table from the people before. For me the service was the worst part, it felt very hostile and like us being there was an inconvenience for them. I understand that February 14th is a very busy night and that they wanted to do as many covers as possible, but I suspect that all they've succeeded in is ensuring that a larger number of people will...

Being brutally honest, the food was nice as in everything tasted good, but it's not Japanese food, it was as if a person who never tried or heard of Japanese cuisine attempted to cook it following the instructions from another person who said he/she had Japanese food at a Korean restaurant... To illustrate; the shiro misoshiro had chicken broth instead of Kombu ( I could clearly see the oil on the surface, the gyoza was deep fried instead of steam fried ( it was crunchy like a spring doll and not moist and crispy bottom ), the tobiko gunkan looked like it was in a road accident and someone gave it a little slice of lemon to freshen it up, and let's not forget the staff having existential crisis as they went about their job, the young flirty fellow who served my table, was happily chatting with a couple of young pretty customers and didn't even bother to ask how was the food, I wouldn't... And putting up pictures of obscure Nō mask artisans doesn't make it better either! I'm not a Japanese cuisine specialist, but I have been married to Japanese lady for close to 1/4 of a century, have been to Japan uncountable times and have been to as many Japanese restaurants around the world, so I pretty much know what I am expecting when I visit a Japanese...

First time here, thought it was great. Food was great and lady serving was great. Price was great and service wasn't too bad for food times...

Recommended;

Play some authentic music or something as the ambience was missing.

Aesthetically the chairs were not nice and really uncomfortable- pure metal and no cushions. Decor was nice and traditional.

Pictures of food would be good so you know if you would need to order more or less because some sizes differ.

Drink selection needs improving. Run out of diet sodas and wasn't much to choose from.

Also no license for alcohol which is ok but we saw a couple bring their own? We would have done that if we knew. That was a shame as we did mention alcohol to the lady and we wasn't advised we could do this.

Remember ambience!!! No candles were lit on the tables and it was night time and for a party of 9 for a birthday.

It was also a little cold in there and friends were putting on coats to keep warm.

All in all it's a nice place with massive potential, with these minor improvements you could really book up fast and be very busy.

Thank you to the staff for a...

Wow wow wow. This is by far the best food myself and my partner have had. This was met by an excellent service. We went in wanting to try something new, and the service received was super helpful with this. On arrival we were told how the food was traditionally eaten which was a nice touch. The experience as a whole was thoughtful and you can tell the sushi masters are passionate what they do. The food we ordered came out as two dishes at a time, to which they beautifully complemented one another 10/10. The atmosphere here is also homely and welcoming, I usually feel anxious in dining out settings but I felt comfortable and at ease. It was a shame however to see some rude customers around us, this is a small friendly business and their craft should be respected/appreciated by the locals! We will definitely be back as we haven’t stopped talking about it since we went last Thursday:)

Excellent little sushi place in central Lincoln. Easy to reserve online and has stunning decor inside. It is dog friendly as well! Quite a small venue and probably only seats 20 people so a more intimate dining setting. Food was excellent, good choice of dishes, presented well and tasted great. The lunch set is good value and comes with some variety to try a bit of everything. The service was a little slow given how quiet it was and the staff didn’t come across that enthusiastic but were polite and helpful. The toilet was clean and tidy and hidden behind a little sliding door! The price was what you’d expect for a good sushi restaurant and reflected the quality of the food. I’m not sure if I would go back as I’d probably try one of the other sushi places but it is definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area and you’re after more of a casual lunch dining vibe than other places.

We visited the restaurant on a Thursday night. On arrival we were greeted with two different green teas and some wasabi peas on the table to snack on. We ordered the gyoza and a few plates of sushi, all of which were beautifully presented and delicious. Our server was polite and the food came out promptly, but as is often the case with Japanese restaurants, don't expect all your dishes to arrive at the same time. We finished with both the cheese cake and sponge cake which, again, were fun to look at and tasted equally good. It'd be nice to see a bigger selection of drinks on the menu including some Sake, along with a couple of set menus for the sushi (choosing is hard when everything sounds so tasty!). Overall, a very positive experience and we'll no doubt be visiting again.
