š½ Beef Roast š Korean Shortrib Special Burger
š„® Apricot & Yoghurt Tart
The White Horse aināt no show pony, it reins supreme in pretty much every aspect even at a canter. So saddle up and Iāll tell you why itās worth your moneigh.
We didnāt go for a starter because we both have a sweet tooth and instead of forcing a dessert down us when weāre full, we thought weād do the sensible thing and go straight for the mane, sorry main course hoping that missing a course would work in our favour later on. SPOILER, it didnāt for one of us
I didnāt choose the roast, but I wish I had after seeing what the server brought out. WOW. It smelled incredible, it looked incredible and in my partnerās words āThis is the best roast dinner Iāve had when weāve eaten outā Thatās high praise right there, as sheās known to be the Queen of Roast Dinners herself. I did try a bit of the beef and it was beautiful. It wasnāt a huge dinner, but it was a well-constructed dinner.
On to my burger and I fell in love with it right away. Iāve not had many burgers that have actual flavour to them. This one got my tastebuds going and unlike many before, this burger and bun held together too. The fries were superb. Cooked properly and the spicy coating was welcomed too. The only issue I had was the coleslaw. It was lovely, but there wasnāt enough on the plate for my liking. Double the amount and weāre heading in the right direction.
So, on to dessert and we only got the one. Why? The Roast Dinner defeated my partner. Me on the other hand, was yearning for more. I went for the lighter option, the Apricot and Yoghurt Tart. I thought it would be lighter, but the sharpness of the Apricot and Orange Blossom Jam really took me back it was that sweet. It was nice, but base took some breaking.
Overall, we came away with our bellies full and a smile on our faces. A lovely lunch in a lovely environment. Weāll be back with our family very soon.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe have been wanting to visit White Horse since it opened in November, with the first impressions of the decor and ambience clearly giving an insight into the skill, dedication and love that has gone into refurbishing a historic venue. We went as a table of 10 on a Wednesday evening, and were seated in the upstairs dining area, which was very welcoming (though I did have a wander around and every seating area was impeccably thought and laid out. Both waitresses that served our table were polite, friendly and professional - and were clearly well versed in both the food and drinks menus. We had a selection of the Small Plates to share as Starters, and each of them (Miso Belly Pork, Argentinian Prawns, Korean BBQ Chicken Wings and Truffle and Parmesan) were absolutely stunning - From presentation to flavour, everything about each one was vibrant and fresh, and certainly a world away from your usual "pub grub" Most went for a Burger for mains (with those coming with the welcome knowledge that they come from the Owners previous success at Kine), though my Wife had the Baked Sweet Potato, and one of the party having the Onion Bhaji Patty Burger - Again, all the mains certainly lived up to the billing given on the menu, and they all just fit in so well with everything about the White Horse - Everything is just married up to perfection. Somehow I managed to squeeze a dessert in - A delectable Sticky Toffee Bread and Butter Pudding - and as it was my wife's birthday, we both finished the evening with a "Pickleback" - The White Horses shot of choice - A slice of homemade gherkin, a shot of bourbon then a shot of pickle water - An absolute Marmite moment for me! The wife loved it, me.. not so much!
Overall, in 2024, after 4 years of rough seas across the Hospitality and Catering Trade - it is a true delight to see a New venture bringing an old pub back from the ashes, and rising to the challenge of providing first class dining in a first class public house...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe'd heard a lot of hype about this place and so checked it out the last time we visited Lincoln.
Food excellent - very diverse menu with lots of attention to detail in the little extras (whipped sour cream, homemade tarragon mayonnaise, shoe string fried onions). Would really recommend the pork belly, Korean fried chicken, and fish tacos.
The drinks were also knock out. The cocktail menu is extensive, but not overwhelming, with well thought out twists on the classics. My sis went off menu and asked for a regular pina colada, we all agreed it was the best we'd ever had!
Very helpful waitresses, who were pleasant and cheerful despite lots of delays (see below).
Some terrible pics to follow (who has time to take pics if the food is so good?!)
Slight areas for improvement:
#1 we waited 25 mins before ordering our drinks/ food... food came 1hr 15mins after our arrival; we also noticed lots of other tables with empty tables/ long waits. Obviously hugely popular on a Friday night (a good sign!) But I think the restaurant could have done with at least 2 extra waiting staff. We didn't really mind but I think a lot of other people might have found this unacceptable.
#2 incredibly draughty/ cold. Even when the window was closed, lots of people were wearing their jackets etc.
#3 terrible acoustics: our table was shoved in a back corner of a cavernous room; this meant we were often ignored by the waitresses who circulated around the closer tables, and conversations were held at shouting decibels!
#4 mocktails/ alcohol free options severely lacking. Such a shame that non-drinkers miss out on the drinks.
Overall, despite the above, the food was great, cocktails fabulous, staff lovely... we would definitely go back, perhaps for a quiet lunch (not a prime...
