When we arrived there was a 15 min wait for a table for 4 people. This in my mind was a good thing. And what can I say but I was right.
I rearly go out for food and give a 5 star review without being slightly generous but in this case I don't need to be generous. This is truly a 5 star rated place.
The price is reasonable and this is reflected in the potion size. Large but not too big and very filling.
The variety available was overall good for lunch and tea and coffee selection was larger then expected. Just note there is no alcohol served here, but is not needed as the environment is superb and supports the ethos of the cafe.
The food was superb and the selection of meat and vegan foods was good. The kids face at the sight of the kids afternoon was one of excitement, especially when seeing the size of the cake.
The burger patties were thin but wide, homemade, like all the food, cooked to a juicy succulent state. Yummy.
The nuggets were diced chicken pieces so quality from the start, batter was slightly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Not greasy or soggy or too much for the meat. Best nuggets I have ever had.
If you like cake and coffee this is also the place for you with the sizes of the cake portions you will be taking some home, and it will be well worth it.
As you can tell we really enjoyed the food and set in a venue that is modern with a classic touch I felt relaxed and that the food...
Read morevisited today but very disappointing. menu was very pretentious ( marrow butter !) - food items had descriptions , drinks didnt... ordered tiramisu iced latte but had the menu been descriptive then wouldnt have ordered it as came with chocolate chunks on ( hate chocolate ) & cream was solid - never melted , may have been overwhipped as got stuck in the straw. ordered goats cheese sandwich - very thick bread , no butter , bread dry . breakfast muffin couldnt be finished as found hair in it. both sandwiches were too thick to be eaten normally, filling too little amongst thick bread, but cutlery wasnt replaced from previous customers and no napkins so got very messy hands. not once did any staff check to see if the food wats ok - basic hospitality ? at £27 for 2 sandwiches & 2 drinks was very overpriced. more style than substance ...
update 21.5.25
have read the owners reply - Grace did not come over to clear our plates. we decided not to finish the breakfast muffin because of the hair & the tiramisu latte because of the cream , went up to pay leaving the food etc on the table. we saw a gentleman who asked where we were sat before we paid and left. not once after the food was brought did any staff come to us ... being neurodiverse , i feel a clearer explanation of "marrow butter " is needed as i literally had a vision of marrow as in vegetable not...
Read moreWas on a hunt for a new lunch spot in Lincoln a bit outside the norm and was amazed.
Rising Cafe tucked inside a church and what a find it was. Upscale ‘simple’ food done so so well.
Sticky Korean chicken thighs nice pickled vegetables on top with spring onions juicy, sticky and great portion. Good level of spice as well. Highly recommend!
Service was a bit slow but was Saturday at lunchtime and after a small issue with order not being processed all was ok and apologised as technical glitch on ordering system. Food was absolutely worth the wait and service was very warm and friendly from the young lad.
Jade mountain tea felt like a treat but was lovely quality sencha green tea infused with rice hazelnut and cocoa… really unique flavours.
Birria toasted sandwich just insane lovely birria sauce with it and aioli just perfection couldn’t quite believe how good it was one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in years. Great quality bread as well with a cheese ‘crust’. Didn’t want to finish it was that good.
All proceeds go to help a charity that helps with addiction and homelessness as well which is amazing. This place had no right to be as good as it is… a cafe inside a church… but wow. No dinner needed, £25 more than worth it for exceptional food with attention to detail....
