I just created an account to write an review for those food lovers and those who care about restaurant service. I was bullied and threatened by an arrogant waiter. You wouldn't believe what an horrible experience we had there. My husband and I invited our Italian friends to this restaurant for a meal. We both have a one year old daughter. We ordered a beef noodles for the toddler girls to share. In the end our girls would love to have some plain rice. So we let them have some rice as well. Of course, when children eat, they make a mess. Out of kindness, before we left, I decided to pick up the food that both babies dropped on the floor. I managed picking up all the noodles and big chunk of rice. But I could't pick up the little tiny single rice that was stuck on the floor. After I finished paying the bill at the counter, the waiter said to me "you can't leave without cleaning the floor". I smiled and said,"sorry, they are babies, we can' help and I picked up what I could. I would have to have a hoover for that." And he said again,"seriously, you have to pick everything up." I still smiled towards him and said "you are joking , I know that." But he looked at me with a despise and said "I am not joking, I meant it.I am a waiter, not a cleaner. " I was like hang on then, I need to talk to the boss. I was him, who the boss was, realizing that the lady boss was just standing next to him. So I started to wonder if it was the boss who suggested that. Bu t I had to ask the boss if I needed to pick up the tiny rice on the floor. She said nothing. That's right, she said NOTHING! I was so devastated! I said I am not cleaning every tiny piece up because I can't do it without a hoover as I walked towards our table. Guess what he and the boss followed me all the way to the table! The waiter shouted at me loudly saying "you are not in China, you are in England. I am not a cleaner, I am a waiter. You need to clean up all the mess you made." I was frightened by him. I started to cry, I said, I am not cleaning it up. That's the worse experience I have ever had in a restaurant. The boss should fire you. And he said " I am well educated in England, you tell the boss to fire me then." After I started to cry, the boss came to me, saying "meishi, meishi" in Chinese. It means it's all right in Chinese. The whole time, the boss just stood there and did not shut the waiter's mouth up and let him bully me. I felt it's me and my husband who invited our Italian friends to the restaurant. I felt so terrible for my friends as well. They had never had Chinese food in Lincoln before. Shame that they had to experience such a terrible moment with us. I always feel being proud to be Chinese. We are known for being friendly and kind. But this guy shocked all of us. He said he's not from China. He is not Chinese. He was born in England. He had nothing to do with China. He is a waiter, not a cleaner. I feel ashamed of him for being such a horrible person and denying himself being Chinese. How come a person deny his ancestor? And also specking of being a waiter, he wasn't a qualified waiter. I wouldn't have said anything about him take the wrong order from us if he wasn't that mean to us. We ordered Tangculiji (sweet sour pork belly), but he ordered us Tangcupaigu (sweet sour ribs). During the meal, he presented Tangcupaigu, I said we didn't order tangcupaigu. He said, oh, they taste the same, the paigu have bones, the liji don't. So it's fine. We were like what? We wanted Tangculiji, we ordered it. we said, "that's right, that's why we ordered Tangculiji, not tangcupaigu." Then we got the boss over ,she changed the order for us. I will write the same review in Chinese as well later. You are more than welcome to visit this restaurant if you are prepared to pick up the mess you made on the table or on the floor. My advise is don't go if you are going with kids, don't go if you are a messy eater. And I don't know how they got so many good reviews. Good...

I last went to this restaurant a few years ago so I knew, or at least I thought I knew what to expect when I recently returned with my family...
Firstly we were greeted, or rather just stared at, by tonight's waiter, a scruffy looking lad with his shirt half tucked into his trousers and wearing trainers. He let us choose which table we wanted to sit at. There was plenty of choice as only one other couple were in there for the entirety of our visit. Our waiter followed us to the table carrying the menus and before we sat down he threw them on to the table and walked away without any interaction, no mention of a drink or offer of some prawn crackers, unlike the last time we were here. A little while later he returned with his notepad to take our order. I had to ask if we could order drinks. Then came a discussion about why I couldn't order a pint of diet coke. Apparently it's because of the size of glasses they use! I pointed out that they sell draft beer so asked if they sell that in pints; obviously they do but I was not getting my drink in a pint glass! So I asked what non-alcoholic beer they sell to be told simply "none". I gave up and ordered a regular diet coke. Our waiter took the rest of our order... I then asked him which was the more spicy between the green and red Thai green curry to be told another simple "I don't know". There was no offer of asking the chef, nothing, he literally just couldn't care less!! He took the rest of our order and returned a few minutes later to tell us that they had "just run out" of my son's J20 chosen flavour, which I suspect hadn't "just" happened.
Now for some good news.. Our food came extremely quickly, was good size portions and was piping hot. It was tasty but one thing I must comment on is, do people really want crab sticks in their seafood chow mein? This was an unwelcome and 'cheap' addition when just some more prawns or squid would have been appreciated.
Half way through our meal we were all running out of drinks, but where was our waiter! We refused to call him over but chose to test out his customer service skills once more. Expecting him to at least come and ask us how our meal was and offer us more drinks, this simply didn't happen! I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and presumed that he was very new to the staff team but when we quizzed him earlier in the meal he told us that he had been working there for "4 or 5 years". Clearly if this is true he needs to find another job because his heart is most definitely not in this one. He was the only waiter tonight and if he is a regular member of staff no wonder the restaurant was empty! We would normally have stayed for dessert and coffee, and would have tipped for the service, but as soon as we had finished our mains we put our coats on, went to the counter to pay instead of waiting for him to come to us, and got out of there, thirsty, and never to return again. Tonight was the worst display of customer service I have ever experienced in a restaurant anywhere in the world. Please sort it out China Hong... there is a nice looking new restaurant next door which I am sure would like to take your customers, which you have made clear tonight that you couldn't care...
Read moreWe booked in here for an evening meal for three but when we got there we were told the call taker had booked in two people. I honestly wish we had been turned away as we would have been spared the service which was so bad that would give Fawlty Towers a run for its money. I don't like leaving bad reviews but I wish I had been prepared. In Covid times, you have to be so careful where you eat. Our table was given a wipe before we sat but there were no condiments left behind. We sat for 30 minutes waiting for someone to take a drink order and eventually my husband asked one of the staff as we were conscious that we had to be out by ten and it was coming up to 8pm. The girl said 'yes' then promptly went back to cleaning tables. I don't think she understood us as after 40 minutes we were still waiting and staff were serving people who came in after us. My husband had to ask again. When the waiter came holding my glass of G&T, I had to laugh. I can manage without ice (as there was none included) but he was holding the rim with his thumb INSIDE the glass and his fingers on the lip. Same for my husband's drink, he was touching the rim. It was OK with my daughter's cider as he just gave her the bottle - no glass, lol!! Luckily, I had a pack of anti bacterial wipes in my bag and I gave the glass a rub. It could have been easily solved if he'd just used a tray. Nobody asked if we wanted any drinks after that so it didn't happen again. The menu had some very authentic dishes but not our usual fare with dishes like frog's legs and pig's end -eek! Thankfully the usual curry dishes were available too.
The food was nice when it came but we didn't have any knives or forks - not even chopsticks on the table, no serviettes, nothing. We asked for knives and forks but like before, they said 'yes' and carried on cleaning. Again, I laughed and we ended up using the ladles in the curry to eat with. It was comical, watching my daughter try to chop up her chicken with a huge ladle spoon and staff not caring or noticing. Nobody came near our table and after waiting for ages, we got up and paid for the bill on our way out. The food was nice, not the best I've had but OK. If you'd like to know what it's like to visit a Chinese Fawlty Towers then I highly recommend this place. As for me, once was enough and I...
