FANTASTIC! Cottage Pie! I ordered the Thursday special Cottage Pie, which was home made by Colin and absolutely Amazing! 5 stars all the way! ☆☆☆☆☆ They also do an Amazing Steak Pie! ☆☆☆☆☆ And the best Prawn Cocktail I've ever had!☆☆☆☆☆ There is always plenty of fresh vegetables on the plate, which is nice to see! and you don't mind paying for a decent amount of food that fills you up. They always gave me extra gravy when I ask for it, as I have a problem swallowing. The service from our lovely waitress was excellent. Two last little comments, one the music is always a little loud! I struggled to hear my friend properly in the restaurant! Second and most important please Colin, could the new chef: make sure the plates! and food! are piping hot!!!" before leaving the kitchen! We both had to return our food to be reheated. Apart from that though it was yummy! Great value for money, nice and clean, and you could tell it was home made tasty food! Not frozen! And just pinged in a microwave! I would of taken a picture to add to the review, but it looked so tasty I couldn't wait to eat it up. Best Cottage Pie I've ever tasted in a pub! Well done...
Read moreExtremely disappointed, after such a long time I would have thought that something would have been in place. Waited 40mins for drinks to arrive (with a drink missing) before being told that we couldn't order another round as they were to busy that it wouldn't be fair (couldn't even add it into the end of the queue?) My friends and myself were mentioning that the bar staff would take out drinks and return empty handed, joking that they would run out of glasses. Turns out the second round took 50mins as they ran out of said glasses! Food that we ordered (loaded chips so nothing special) took nearly an hour to arrive. Small portion and little sauce. Staff seemed clueless and non existent, went to the bar and 3 staff were just chatting while we counted 6 tables out of drinks any waiting to take an order, yet staff can't take order or take empty glasses back after taking drinks out as it may be to much for them. Don't waste your time, walk the extra distance to a place with their heads screwed on like the morning star or the price of Wales... (Both of which I highly...
Read moreDuring my 4 month stay in Nevenby visiting the Stags Head in Devon weekly I had the pleasure of being served by Stuart the owner along with his wife & the staff who went above and beyond to make our dining experience truly exceptional. The hospitality and kindness were evident from the moment we walked in, and recommendations on food and beverages were spot on.
The cuisine at the Stags Head is nothing short of outstanding. Every dish I tried was a delightful culinary adventure. The quality of the food served truly matched the rate we expected, and we left feeling satisfied and impressed.
Beyond the delicious food, Stags head personality and warmth added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal. The atmosphere in the pub was cozy and inviting, making our evening truly memorable.
I cannot recommend the Stags Head enough, thanks in large part to Stuart's excellent management, service and the top-notch cuisine on offer. A huge thank you to Stuart for making my visit...
