I echo the sentiments of so many others: the server who served us was truly awful.
What a shame - we travelled 1.5hrs to visit here and the kidsā first visit to Yo Sushi ever, so we were excited for lunch.
First up, the sign at the door instructed us to wait to be seated..so we did.. Turns out this wasnāt even necessary and the staff didnāt understand the purpose or use of the sign they had put in front of the door (so we ended up moving the sign away), so we have been waiting outside for no reason whatsoever. We found the staff member who eventually came to us to be disparaging, unwelcoming and with an attitude problem. Her manner was so poor that my husband just left. She wasnāt British, perhaps Germanic European, so maybe if the cross-cultural differences and need for politeness is too much for her, sheād be better in a non-customer facing role before the branch gets too many low reviews. That being said, I think greeting customers with respect is a universal standard, so it was probably just her as a person rather than the language & culture aspect.
So the kids werenāt totally starving, I bought them a quick Ā£3.50 plate, so we could just quickly leave the scenario and the weird atmosphere. During this time, the unkind staff member tried to upsell loads of products, seemingly oblivious to her manner and oblivious to us as people.
I have no doubt this was probably not their usual standard on the whole, as a lovely dark-haired member of staff could see what had happened and tried to revive the situation. She was observant and kind, but Unfortunately it was too late by this point and we were all walking out of the door, our total visit lasting about 4 minutes. Sadly wonāt be buying Yo Sushi again or driving 1.5hrs out of our way for the visit, not that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve decided to rate 4 stars as the manager of a restaurant I know how crucial online reviews are to the future of a business.
Iāve looked online for an email or way of messaging the manager without a public review but there is nothing clear other than this unfortunately.
Again I am aware the pressures of labour restrictions, wastage control etc etc
Today I was left less than impressed. Sushi has always been a bit of a treat after a bad day. After a hard weekend running an independent business I thought Iād use my saved cash tips to treat myself to save on cooking.
The waitress was clearly run off her feet after waiting close to ten minutes at the door.
Another 13/14 minutes passed before I had to flag someone down to order a drink.
I sat and watched the same 4 salmon rolls pass me by on the conveyor belt.
I had to order anything worth eating making the whole experience redundant.
When I came to pay with my cash as a treat I was told it was card payments only.
Again this is not a management issue. This is a restriction placed on management by those above issue.
I will not be returning. I do not want anything in the way of a voucher etc.
I have been a customer for 20+ years.
My waitress was lovely. The manager was clearly working hard. As were the chefs.
Unfortunately wait times, nothing pleasant to choose from and not being able to pay in cash spoilt it for me.
A minuscule sign 5 feet from the door is not good enough Iām afraid. If you choose to go cashless you should announce it as you seat guests. People are finding it hard to make ends meet these days and a last minute announcement takes all the joy of a treat away and makes it a worry as to what direction debit...
Read moreHonestly my favorite restaurant. Came here because I really like chicken teriyaki and I was blown away by the other delicious options! The restaurant in itself is an experience, especially if you've never been in/seen a conveyor belt style restaurant (sushi and various other dishes circle the restaurant on sealed plates placed on a conveyor belt). Sushi is super fresh (is only allowed on the conveyor belt for a few hours and gets removed, there is a literal time stamp of the exact time it was made). And if your not a fan of sushi like me, there are so many other options I couldn't even try them all after 4 visits! It super easy to price things since dishes are color coded by price, and for about a £1.25 you get unlimited refills of triple filtered spring water or seltzer water from a tap right at your table. Each table has a call button so you never have to awkwardly wave a waiter/waitress over. You just press it, a light by your table changes color, and they come over. If your a fan of certain dishes, they might come in a "sumo" size so you get about 2-3 times more then a standard plate. We kept coming back not only for the amazing food, but the very friendly staff. Our waitress was so kind and friendly, even when we came back after only being there once she recognized us immediately. Such an amazing restaurant that I hope...
