‘Wandering Wednesday’ this week took Hubby Neil and I, on a shopping trip to Cheshire Oaks. We then went for lunch at Mowgli 🐒restaurant for Indian street food…… Simply WOW!! We ordered dishes to share:

*Yoghurt Chat bombs: Crisp bread puffs, filled with chickpeas, spiced yogurt, tamarind and coriander. *Bhel puri: Puffed rice with gram rice threads, peanuts & tantalising spiced sweet and sour dressing. *Angry bird: (food not me!!) Tender chicken thighs marinated and roasted in tandoori spices, yogurt, ginger and garlic, served with popped mustard Mowgli slaw. *Bunny Chow: A South African railway workers favourite! A fruity, hot, chicken and potato curry, served inside a bread loaf.

We’ve never tasted anything like this before, exquisite flavours and presentation, it is definitely up there with some of our best dishes…. The restaurant is spotless and there was plenty of staff serving customers, although the place was packed, we were seated straight away, just bare in mind, you cannot make reservations. Tables with chairs were in the centre of the restaurant but around the outside again there were tables but the chairs were swings suspended with thick ropes, really unusual and quirky…. Great idea🥰 There was no waiting time for anything at all, drinks came straight away and the food comes out in no particular order, whatever dish is cooked first, that’s what you are served with, but all the food was on the table in no time at all. Staffing is very well organised….. we had a lovely server called Olivia, who was attentive, smiley and very polite, we asked a few questions in regards to the menu and she knew it inside and out, wonderful service. Will we go again….. Yes, yes and...

I am not a person who would leave negative review on places however Mowgli Street Food Cheshire oaks disappointed me!!!!

Mowgli used to be my go to favourite restaurant at Liverpool and I was so happy when they opened new restaurant at Cheshire Oaks, however this place is lacking so many things. Don’t get me wrong the ambience is just so beautiful, The decor and low lighting provides a nice relaxed ambience. However apart from that rest is very appalling. 🚨

  1. no booking system ( you would have to Que outside to get in, depends on the day wait time is just off the roof )
  2. poor staff management ( staffs were running around like little lost rabbits and lady who took our order were not even sure about the items in the menu )
  3. don’t even bother getting the cocktail as they are over priced and don’t taste like cocktails at all!!!!
  4. we have ordered 3 starts which arrived after the main 🤦🏽‍♀️ like after 15min 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ at that point we didn’t even want to have the starts. ( there is a reason why we order starts, you want to have everything together what’s the point ? )
  5. The Agra chicken had water floating on top and again raw onions taste.
  6. mother butter chicken is defo not like butter chicken or slightly anything like it…

What a let down...

Went today with wife as our friends said it was good. The wait to get in was only about 15mins and the waitress was polite and helpful. Their mantra on the menu is "it comes out as and when ready", so this means as soon as it is cooked? No! Although the flavour was good, every dish I had was only just about warm! Being served food at a restaurant, it should be HOT when you get it! I ordered my meal with naan bread that came out as thin as a pancake, stale as it broke apart when bent and it had been 'premade' as you can tell they just threw some oil in a pan and tossed it in as one side was bone dry and the other dripping in oil. This was the part they hid by folding once it was hot and pliable. The lamb chops tasted good but again only warm, plus one when turned over was charred black!

THE GOOD PART! I told the waitress about my displeasure at the end , and even though I had not asked for it, they apologised by giving us a 30% discount which knocked about £10 off the total.

Overall, not impressed with the serving time, the presentation of the food as they obviously didn't check or hope you wouldn't mind burnt food, the lack of heat when served.

Not going there again. If you do, we hope you have a better experience like others...
