Brilliant day out my son loved it. So OK when I say day I mean couple of hour we arrived at around 10:30am and left just after two and we did go round twice but as the kids really enjoyed it and it was about them I'm happy although it would of been nice if I was give more information or an information sheet telling me when the talk/feeding in the main viewing area starts as I could not find a sign in side the viewing area with this information also I believe there is an out door erea where they feed seals that you can see but I saw no sign of this so not sure so on this point make sure you get as much information as you can on these things and I believe it will make this day out that much more enjoyable for the hole family. I know for a lot of people it costs a lot especially if you've got more than one child so would definitely surgest checking all the prices before you go because as you can see by a lot of the other reviews people where not happy about the price or it not being an all day excursion ( side note: I looked at all the different aqueriums around me and these were the top complaints so some how I don't think it's the aqueriums falt people complaining that Chester zoo has more well of course it does its a zoo it's ment to have as many different animals as possible where as an aquarium is for aquatic animals in general however there are a couple of none aquatic animals at the blue planet aquarium) but back to my original point seriously what do you expect its literally walking round and looking at fish in tanks (adult perspective) but for the kid's it's a new world to be explored and as long as they enjoy it what dose it really matter. Now as to extra costs yes there are kids car ride ons and other arcade games are scattered hear and there so it's a good idea to have some change plus there are a couple penny squash and print machines which most kids always seam to want to have a go on 😂. Now about the food to be honest it looked nice however we did not eat hear I thought about it an decided with Cheshire oaks so close we might as we go there although this was definitely decided when we passed through the food court because at this point I decided I would like a drink but even though there wasn't a very long queue it just wasn't moving which was annoying when all I really wanted was a drink to sit down with for five minutes. So I all while a couple of things could of be better and more planned out on my part and there's over all...
Read moreThis is an absolutely gorgeous place to visit and while it is pricey, it is a nice treat and day out. They have some lovely fish tanks as well as some reptiles, amphibians and insects terrariums to look at, so there's lots of variety. We went on a weekday so it wasn't too busy, I imagine it would be on weekends. The layout of the aquarium is easy to follow with it's different sections and it has lots of signs to tell you about the animal/s in the tank/terrarium. The one issue I encountered is that when you reach the section with the rays and dogfish the tanks are really low, low enough a child could reach into them if they want. There are signs everywhere saying not to reach into them, however kids won't always follow this and I did actually see a child throw his toy in one of the tanks, but luckily the adult with him could reach to grab it out quickly. It is nice to have them low and be able to see into them like that and it allows the fish to swim at the top and sort of wave their fins at you, which is cute to see. Most people wouldn't reach in, I think I just worried a bit, especially after seeing the child above throw his toy in. I think my favourite part was the tunnel near the end that goes through both big tanks. You can either stand on the conveyer belt and let it guide you through or you can walk it yourself on the carpeted side. We waited until there was no one around to go through the tunnel and it made it such a nice calming experience, to be able to see all these fish swim above you while you're being taken around, with some relaxing music on in the background. I love that the aquarium has penny machines dotted around that stamp a penny with a design of your choice, it costs £1.50 but it's contactless and the penny is supplied by the machine, so you don't have to have one on you. The aquarium does have a food court/canteen to eat at or buy food and drinks, however it doesn't have a great variety and is a bit more expensive then usual, so I'd recommend bringing food with you. It is located downstairs, at the end of the walk round the aquarium. There is a gift shop at the end, which is located at the top right hand side of the building as you come in. There is a picnic and play area for the kids outside, located through the gift shop. I would definitely recommend this as a place to visit, with or without children, even though it is expensive it is...
