We were so excited to try Amici finally having been frequent visitors to Justino’s. Sorry to say we were disappointed mainly because the service was terrible. My husband and kids went in for a drink a little earlier as I had an appointment nearby and were made to feel q unwelcome being asked repeatedly by the same waitress if they wanted to order food yet even though he explained they were waiting for me to arrive. When I arrived they had caved and ordered a garlic bread for the kids which they forgot about and never arrived so we had to awkwardly ask after our starters which we ordered much later had arrived and been half eaten. They gave us it on the house which was a nice gesture however. Kids meals arrived ok and they enjoyed the chicken strips. My husband’s main meal arrived as a solo item and I was sat waiting for my mussels with no signs they were imminent. Again I had to awkwardly get attention of the manager to make them aware by which point my husband had already well tucked in. The mussels in white wine were tasty but small and full of grit so unfortunately hadn’t been washed properly. Another noticeable point was we also sat with empty glasses and were not asked/ checked if we wanted more drinks - we had to grab attention. In summary food was nice but we didn’t find the restaurant a particularly enjoyable experience - its a shame as we really wanted...
Read moreVisited New Year’s Day ( late afternoon , booked the table in advance ) on arrival it was quiet , lots of free tables but were told to wait at the bar whilst a table was set for us. We ordered drinks and waited. Once seated our order was taken and food was brought out pretty quick which was good as we had young children with us. Staff were friendly but there was only two waitress and one barmaid, I don’t know how they would have managed had it had been busy. We weren’t offered anymore drinks , we just went to the bar and got them ourselves. The food was nice but overpriced for what it was. A couple in our party said their food was VERY salty not enjoyable. Kids enjoyed the pizza. We had to clear our own empty glasses and a few plates were left on the table. We were going to order desserts but waited to long for someone to take our order so decided to leave. Had to go to the bar to ask to pay as no one came to our table. Another couple left there bill money at the desk on the way out too. Nothing personal on the staff , they were lovely and obviously trying to do the best they could. Shame as it was a family meal out and our first time after new management takeover. Wasn’t the experience we hoped for. Have to say the place looked great though , very Christmassy. Probably won’t go again , not for the cost and the lack of service / experience. Just an...
Read moreI have visited the restaurant five times now since under new ownership.
I have tried numerous starters, calamari, bruschetta, mushroom arancini and the gamberoni prawns all was amazing the prawns are my favourite!
For the mains I have tried the spaghetti carbonara which is unbelievably tasty! And with garlic bread of course. I have also tried the pollo con gnocchi, the flavour on this was really nice. The Sunday dinner is second to none, I visited with my family on Father’s Day we had a table of 6 and was well looked after, the service was incredible our food was out swiftly and our glasses was never left empty. I have been back 3 times for the Sunday roast. I can confirm the beef, lamb and chicken are all amazing and the stuffing is a must. I was unsure about apricot stuffing but was pleasantly surprised.
Last but not least the desserts are lovely too, I have only tried the chocolate brownie and lemon cheesecake, both was nice but chocolate was my favourite.
Can not reccomend the place enough and really happy we have such a nice restaurant local without having to travel into the city centre. I also nearly forgot to mention the waiters have a great knowledge of the wine menu and are always at hand to recommend a wine to go...
