Visited on a Friday afternoon for the first time. The restaurant was busy. The decor was lovely and the entire place was well furnished with a pleasant atmosphere. Upon entering there was no service from the young lady at front of house. We were not greeted or welcomed, but instead stared at until we requested a table. Staff seemed frantic and not very aware of what they were doing overall. It took around 5 minutes to be seated which was okay, however once seated we were completely ignored by all staff despite them walking past our table doing seemingly nothing numerous times. We waited 25 minutes before asking ourselves if we could please order food and drinks. The member of staff we spoke to stated that somebody else would be by to take our order and we waited an additional 5 minutes for this person to arrive. We ordered a freshly squeezed orange juice and a peach bellini for drinks. These took around 20 minutes to arrive and they were sat on the bar for a while. Servers approached the bar and checked the ticket when both drinks were on the tray however they were still not brought to us. The peach bellini was not a bellini but rather just prosecco. I did not ask for a replacement as the initial drink took so long to arrive. Additionally, the freshly squeezed orange juice came in a small water glass filled with ice despite being £4, so there was not much juice for the cost that you pay. The food arrived in good time and we ordered 2 pizzas and halloumi fries. The food was nice but nothing to rave about. No staff checked on us for the entire hour we ate, nor asked if we wanted any refreshments when our glasses were empty. I think that this place could be really amazing if the staff knew what they were doing and there was actual customer service. Whole vibe felt like nobody knew what they were doing, and we even had to affirm to our waiter that a peach bellini was in fact on their menu when he asked us what it was. Not worth the visit...
Read moreBooked a traditional afternoon tea for a friend’s 60th birthday later this month, back in June. I was told when I called to ask about the deposit not to worry by a gentlemen who sounded rather disinterested in my query and they’d message 2 weeks before the date for me to pay the deposit before he abruptly hung up on me.
Fast forward to this weekend, 2 weeks before the date and I check my booking to see if they’ve sent anything so I can pay the deposit. It’s then that I discover that they’ve changed my booking from the traditional afternoon tea to the more expensive autumn afternoon tea. All done with no notification from the restaurant, so I call them to ask about it and how I pay my deposit.
The woman on the other end was incredibly rude, almost deflective when I asked how do they wish for the deposit to be paid as there had been no message.
When I asked about the change in menu and the fact they’d not notified me at all about the change. She quickly added that there would be extra charges as the autumn menu is more expensive than the one I had booked.
The woman then stated she was far too busy to speak to me on the matter and I would have to call back at 3pm before she too abruptly hung up on me.
After looking at the new menu, we’ve decided to go elsewhere as it’s not what we signed up for a when booking. Very disappointed in the lack of communication from the restaurant about the changes especially when it affects the entire menu and changes the cost completely.
And if this is how you speak to people on the phone, I dread to think about how you are in...
Read moreVisited a couple of times. Mixed reviews. Male waiter on restaurant side on two separate bookings very confrontational. Constantly nagging to take order eventually warning us that we only had 1.5 hours at our table and that he didn’t want to rush us whilst eating. Having placed order we outstayed our 1.5 hour window without any issue with no further contact from the waiter. The waiter also seemed to direct some of the younger female staff in a rather derogative manner who seemed a little lost in their role. But he didn’t do it in a professional manner my impression is that he enjoyed the authority rather than being part of a smooth running team. There were no name badges otherwise I would have been more specific.(Might be more helpful for feedback) At a previous visit we had been brought previously opened jam jars to our table and drinks were left at the bar in our view for 20 mins whilst different staff lifted the ticket to pick up and put down.l again. Eventually brought cold to our table. My impression is it’s more about turnover than quality of service and the managers need to train all their staff including supposive senior waiters how to approach guest /staff alike…and treat them just as that guests experiencing a relaxed afternoon not a fast food mentality of in and out asap.Disappointed. Better to go to cafe side no booking but same menu and less nagging ! Also toast like stale bread had to be sent back to get toasted. I’d recommend Coast..next door calmer cosy and...
