Fika is one of the coffee shops I’ve had in rotation of south Liverpool independents for a while, I’ve been that often I’m on my second loyalty card so certainly given this place a fair chance. I either go in myself or my carer goes in while I wait in the car, the owner is happy for customers to park on the pedestrian footway until someone leaves a bad review, but whatever. We have both noticed that service and quality of our coffees has started putting us off. Today’s coffee was the last straw unfortunately! I don’t know how a decaf iced latte can be made so poorly but this one tasted like watered down off milk and I couldn’t even be sure it was made with actual oat milk, considering I’m only able to get out once a week it was so disappointing. We continued down the road to Artisane because Fika had no ve sausage rolls but decided we wouldn’t return to Fika with our horrible coffees because the server (owner) was already grumpy. I’ve noticed this before and reading other reviews it seems to be a running theme. The last time I went inside I thought that the server seems really down and depressed? I almost felt like I was imposing and should leave him to have a private moment or something, I remember not getting eye contact while I tried to engage in conversation. He had remarked that there isn’t really a market for vegan cakes at his coffee shop implying that there’s no point making stuff, which is disappointing because I started going for the ve sausage rolls and recommended Fika to others. If you supply vegan options, the vegans will come! and vegan food can be eaten by everybody. Anyway, I know that this place does a lot of community work and have to give kudos for that but for now will not...
Read moreI attempted to get a coffee and a cake in there. The person serving was discussing politics with the customer who had already been served. He was making a heated speach about some political injustice instead of just sticking to his day job and serving overpriced coffee. Despite the coffee bar only having two customers he concentrated on his political injustice. Even the person who was served in front of me let me through to get served. The server simply ignored me and carried on talking over my head. Apparently Fika means to have coffee. Not at this place apparently. I eventually gave up and left them to it. Despite being 50% of the customer base at the time of trying. I hope the server realises he has just alienated a regular customer that will never come there again. When the business eventually fails i doubt if they will attribute it to their needs of political action instead of serving an overpriced cup of coffee in peace. I have no doubt when the server loses his job it will be the fault of the Tories or...
Read moreWhat a gem! Fika is a cosy little café that feels like a warm hug the moment you walk in. The cakes are out of this world — homemade, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious The coffee is spot on every time, rich and smooth with that perfect balance you don’t often get from bigger chains.
The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with lovely touches that make it feel truly independent — you can tell a lot of care goes into everything, from the décor to the service. The staff are genuinely friendly and always happy to have a chat or recommend their favourites.
If you’re after a quiet spot to unwind, catch up with friends, or just treat yourself to something sweet, Fika is a little slice of happiness. Highly recommend supporting this brilliant...
