I left a one star review four months ago and decided to attend today to give it another chance. Massive mistake!

A table of eight. Food took over fifty minutes to arrive and it was nowhere near as busy as it's nearby rivals. When it did come it was rubbish. Only one person of the eight actually ate their breakfast. The good was greasy and substandard. It tasted as though the quality of the food has decreased. It thrown together on the plate. The eggs where lukewarm at best. The bacon was dripping with fat, the toast was not buttered.

On top of this drink orders where pretty much universally wrong. Including mine which was pretty dangerous as I have a caffeine allergy. I requested my usually blood orange Roobios (which is naturally caffeine free). I was given a normal blood orange which I noticed instantly. Clearly the waitress got the order wrong. It was resolved as soon as I asked but it could have caused a health risk to me.

Overall it was a very poor experience and I will be avoiding it indefinitely now. The review below is from January 2022.

Usually the experience is great. However today whilst eating my breakfast the waitress came over and stood right next to our table for like 40 seconds wiping menus then leant over our food to put the menus in the holder. We couldn't believe it. She was absolutely oblivious to us and clearly had an attitude the whole time we where there. It said her name was Charlie on our receipt but I don't know.

We are normally served by a blonde lady who is amazing and super helpful and attentive this girl could do with shadowing her for awhile to learn how to treat customers with respect.

I go to Leaf all the time and it's been my favourite for awhile but in all honesty this experience has ruined my chance...

Be careful they add extras to the bill without asking! And make you feel bad and give you attitude when you dare asking why!!!!!!! Adding 50p for charity to your bill when service is abysmal is a bit of a joke really. After 2 successful visits on my own for tea and brunch, it looks like the staff and place have gone downhill and I will not return or recoommend.

It was fairly empty on a saturday afternoon and i was given the look on arrival (after standing and waiting 5 minutes being ignored by staff too busy chatting at the bar, which by that point I should have left). There was a very pungent fish smell in the whole restaurant. I was only offered to sit on one of the sofa chairs by the window. I am a lesser customer apparently and wasn't welcome to have a small table. Not very practical. I waited a long time for my order and than again to being served just a tea. I wasn't even given a spoon with the cup,and I like to stir my tea. There was no attention and at no point anyone came over to check. And to top it up it took forever to get the bill and it was embarrassing how...

First of all let me say the food was outstanding. My wife loved the Shakshuka dish and my breakfast was great; thick sliced bacon, big pieces of black pudding, perfect home fries to rival the Tavern (if not better!). Everything about the meal was spot on. Sadly we did wait for almost an hour for our food to be brought from the kitchen, something it appears many people have noted. What turned this breakfast around however was that our friendly waitress flagged up our wait to the manager who came and gave us a full refund plus another drink each without charge. Based on this great customer service in the face of a potentially negative experience I will be sure to be back to give LEAF on Smithdown another chance. If the kitchen can sort out its issues and not bring down the excellence of the wait staff this would certainly be a top notch addition to the area. Atmosphere inside restaurant is lovely and relaxed, breakfast tea was not what I expected but actually tasted good, even if it...

Leaf is a restaurant and cafe which focuses on having an excellent brunch selection with delicious pastries. We were looking for something quick to eat and were shocked to that there were vegan pastries in Leaf! This is fairly rare so we had to try them out, we were not disappointed. We tried the strawberry croissant and the blueberry danish. They were both delicious! The buttercream on the crossiant was silky and sweet, matching perfectly with the crunch pastry. The danish had a tart blueberry jam centre with the lemon drizzle icing. Along with this we also had a coffee which was powerful. Overall definitely recommend Leaf for coffee and pastries but will need to come back to try their food.

Very impressed by our first visit to the new LEAF venue in the old hattons train shop on Smithdown. Lovely bright airy room, beautiful decor and pleasant atmosphere. We were delighted by our Indian pancake breakfast. Its on the brunch menu (served til 3pm) as a dosa, but is nothing like that - more of an Indian spiced thicker pancake, but delicious nonetheless. There were several other vegan and vegetarian options as well, so we will definitely visit again. Not sure about visiting to eat in the evening unless they expand the menu with more vegan options. Many on the brunch/lunch menu but not much on the evening one. Note: order and pay at the bar

Service was initially slow and a bit disjointed when we got there, I think this may have been due to eurovision traffic. Staff were accommodating once we were seated and friendly to speak with in general, assisting with any needs or dietary requirements. I think the paying 50p extra for a splash of oat milk in the iced coffee might be pushing it, but both coffee and orange juice tasted nice (juice was smooth). Heuvos Rotos, was flavourful with the beans not being overally spicy and the tortilla being crisp. Seating was available for small and large groups (had a table for 12)
