Portland Street 358 — Restaurant in Liverpool

The owner needs to learn some customer service skills. I am a manager of a restaurant and disgusted to be made to pay for a breakfast that I did not eat and didn’t like. The scrambled eggs where low quality eggs threw on top of thick flour tasteless pancakes and cold bacon. I politely asked the server if I could swap it for something else as I didn’t like it the dish. The server was lovely and seemed scared of the owner as she said he would not take it off the bill and I had to pay for something I did not eat. The owner would not come out to explain why I had to pay for a meal I did not like/eat. It made sense why the tavern and leaf restaurants close by where so full and this restaurant was half empty. The food at Portland St was nice and worth the price. The service however was very slow, and despite booking a table we were left standing in the doorway for over 10 minutes. The waitress then comes to us and says "are you okay?" as though we're there to deliver her post rather than waiting for a table. She was very sullen and unfriendly which dampened the experience a little. Similarly, when waiting for the bill we were left for a ridiculously long time when the staff could see that we were ready to pay. All in all, good food but lazy staff so would not be in a...

The food was incredible especially the breakfast pizza fries- big portion so I took the rest home and had it the next day. Quality of the ingredients and the taste was top level! Highly recommended this.

The reason for a 4 star is- the waitress. when a table of 2 lads come in 10 minutes after us and got served first even though we've been waiting 15-20 minutes and she's looked at us, we asked if we could order she said she'd be back but tried to ignore us and serve the table next to us.
