Having been nagged incessantly by 'The Teenager' to try this place as it has a huge Social following, thought we'd give it a try and joined the ever-present queue outside.

The fact there's always a big queue can only be a good sign right? Ok, it could also be a sign that a business is over-hyped on Social but in this case... oh no. It's the food. Yes, it's the food!

The queue moved fairly quickly, there's not a lot of space inside so it only takes one entitled Millenial to block the doorway and it snarls up quicker than Queen's Drive on Derby Day when McD are offering free flurries. But generally it's fine if a little crowded. Don't expect to sit & nibble though!

The soup of the day smelt fab but we were there for the pastries. The litte altars to the Gods of Carbohydrate.

They didn't dissapoint.

I'm still working my way through a mammoth wholemeal sourdough which is quite lovely. The cronut thingie was subject to an almost immediate dissapearing trick from the Teenager and a chocolate pastry was awesome.

But in a brilliant feat of marketing, they had a basket on the counter. With samples. Now we can never resist samples. It's what trips to Costco are for.

But here, the samples were for croissant loaf. Croissant? In a Loaf? Whoever heard of such a thing??

Oh. My. God. Take my money now. This thing is truly the work of a higher power, you have GOT to try it - delicious isn't the word. I'm sorry I've eaten it all but glad I don't live closer otherwise I'd have a loaf-a-day habit and that probably would upset my GP.

This is artisan baking how it should be done. Go and try it. Just be early. It sells out not long...

Alright, let me give you the real scoop on Lunko by the Lane. This place is my go-to for a weekend treat, but I gotta be honest – it’s had its ups and downs. First off, the good stuff: their pastries are still pretty darn amazing. Those croissants loafs? Flaky sweet buttery heaven! And don’t even get me started on their cardamom buns – they’re like a hug for your taste buds. The vibe is super chill, and the staff are always super friendly and kind, which I love. But here’s the thing – I’ve noticed sometimes the prices doing this weird dance between weekdays and weekends. Like, why’s my favorite pastry suddenly cost more on a Saturday? It’s a bit of a head-scratcher and kinda puts a damper on the whole experience. Also, I really hate to say it, but the quality’s been a bit hit-or-miss. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still good, but there have been a few times when I’ve thought, “Hmm, this isn’t quite as mind-blowing as I remember.” Maybe they’re just having an off day, or maybe they’re trying to keep up with demand – who knows? That said, I’m still a Lunko fan through and through. It’s like that friend who sometimes annoys you but you love them anyway, you know? The atmosphere’s great, and let’s be real – even on an “off” day, their stuff is better than most places. So yeah, Lunko’s not perfect, but it’s still my weekend happy place. If you haven’t been,...

We found out about this bakery only today! Decided to go for a coffee and a treat as the reviews suggested that it is really good! As expected there was a long queue outside - be prepared to wait in the queue for a minimum 20 to 30min especially on the weekend! We were hoping that the queue will be worth it and we are glad we were right ! Went in for one treat but the variety on offer overwhelmed us and all the pastries look fabulously fresh so we ended up with 3 to share! We chose one Nutella supreme, pain au suisse and a Cinnamon knot along with a latte and a flat white! All the pastries were really tasty! Nice crisp on the outside and not overly sweet!

Would definitely go back when in mood for a nice pastry treat to indulge ! The place gave a vibe of a bakery in NYC, loved visiting and would recommend it !

They don’t have any seating just a couple of stools on the side while you are waiting for Your coffee. Staff is friendly and attentive. Being a Sunday it was extremely busy and the queue didn’t get any shorter. They had a selection of savoury items as well like lamb sausage roll, focaccia sandwich I think ! Looks like you may always find something different on offer!

This place is also...

Sept 2023: I discovered Lunko online when I was searching for a patisserie which sells round croissant because I missed Angelina Bakery (quite famous in NYC). I am so glad Lunko offers so many delicious sweet and savory pastries. Everything tastes amazing!!! My favourites are pistachio croissant, tiramisu danish, matcha supreme, feta with spinach roll, and goat cheese danish. My friends love their Lunko stash as well (frequent topic in our group chat and I always end up with craving feeling). I buy a few boxes with different selections as birthday gift or if I have a friend who is unwell. It easily makes them happy and a little pick me up when my mood is low. One of my close friends told me, Lunko should be prescribed by your GP! I think she is right though. Lol 😂 The staffs are very friendly and today, first time I spoke to Adelina (co-owner), she is such a lovely person and even thanked me for my visit. So kind gesture. Lunko is a great place to visit and you will not regret to indulge in their creations. I keep coming back for more. Thank you, Lunko. ❤️
