So seven of us went to Rhubard for lunch today - I can only describe the experience as abysmal. 4 out of 7 dishes had to be sent back. My blonde friend had a long black hair in her stale wrap with chicken. I had the Avo brunch - stale bread, lukewarm eggs on a bed of tired old bruised tomatoes & onions with a bit of old rocket. The halloumi salad was just as old & the oil from the fried halloumi soaked thru 4 serviettes. The bacon sandwich was inedible - old & I do mean old - bacon soaked in oil & with a green rind - sent back. No condiments were on the table or offered - all had to be requested & then when we asked for olive oil for the dry aged salad - they didn't have any - can you imagine a restaurant cafe with NO OLIVE OIL. The manager couldn't have been less bothered or less friendly. Not once did she come over to apologise for the substandard food or to offer a drink. She seemed more annoyed with our complaint than with the state of the food being sent out by the kitchen. As someone whose worked in the restaurant trade as both a chef and a manager I would have been mortified if any of my customers had experienced such awful food & such poor nonchalant service. When i spoke to the manager she was stroppy instead of sympathetic & when I pointed out that she hadn't even come over to offer an apology, she said well I'm apologising now. Honestly would never ever go back even for a glass of water. Over...
Read moreCame here on New Year's day. The manager did mention that the wait for food was going to be 45 minutes to an hour. As it wasn't that busy, I was expecting something worthwhile...fresh even. Nope. What we got was severely sub par...I ordered a chicken club sandwich and my partner an English breakfast. Honestly, I would've been better off going to the co-op down the road, literally nothing special about it. Having worked in a kitchen myself, I know it doesn't take that long to rustle up a half decent sandwich, let alone the one I got. The English Breakfast wasn't as bad, but the mushrooms had definitely been under a heat lamp for over an hour as they were rock hard. Even a coffee took 20 minutes to make, which is ridiculous considering they had 4 people working front of house, and a half empty cafe. One of the servers gave us the tiniest amount of ketchup because she couldn't be bothered opening a new bottle.
Tdlr: Lazy service, albeit friendly. Sub-par food. Really disorganised. Won't be...

Generous portions for all, my daughter of course couldn't finish 🙄 so straight away the attentive staff offered to put in to a takeaway box which was greatly appreciated by my daughter (a student ) which doesnt like waste 😊 all cooked to perfection, along with his fry came the speciality of rhubarb diced potatoes which absolutely delicious never have tasted such beautiful potatoes that blended so well with fry, I will be ordering them as a side dish in future visits as I was definitely jealous of not having the pleasure of a portion of them to myself so value taste and service...
