I am deeply saddened to be writing this as I often visit the alchemist in Manchester and love it! It is a shame the Liverpool branch does not live up to the same standard. Me and my boyfriend visited on Sunday night and were appalled by the treatment we received. As we arrived at the bar a female member of staff with brown hair was cleaning the top of the bar where the alcohol was displayed and there were glasses all over the side and a lot of customers who hadn’t been seen to. Personally I would have thought this would be done when the service was quiet rather then at 7 o’clock but each to their own. Whilst doing this I also noticed her going on her phone which was in plain sight. We both dismissed this as we were having a lovely night and thought of this more as a lack of common sense. The real issue lied with a female member of staff with blonde hair who did not look interested in Work at all and carelessly slouched about the bar, rudely serving drinks. When I finally got served she was very impolite, took her time making my boyfriends drink and split half of it carelessly sliding it over to him. After making his drink she decided not to serve my drink and move on to a different customer. Safe to say I was fairly annoyed by this point as we had been waiting some time but we waited to see if she realised I had not received my drink. Then out of nowhere and to my disgust she leaned over the bar and said to my boyfriend “here’s a free shot darling you look bored” and winked at him. Not sure what this girl’s intentions were but how unprofessional and disrespectful. My boyfriend obviously declined this and she then offered it me in a nasty tone. We were both shocked and appalled by this behaviour. We left the bar immediately and left a £10 note on the bar for the double shot of baileys my boyfriend had which I now wish we hadn’t paid for! As she works in the customer service sector not sure why she would want to make 2 people feel so uncomfortable and behave so inappropriately. Absolutely disgusting and I would be appalled if the management condoned that kind of behaviour as she clearly had no morals. Clearly the staff need A LOT of training here.

I have decided to edit this post as I don’t think I really got my point across in the first post. I am not writing this post to stop people from going, I love the alchemist. Some action does need to be taken though because that...

Visited here due to seeing various posts about it on social media showing the unusual cocktails available. We came midweek and it was quite busy which is a good sign to me. Welcomed by a very friendly member of the team and were told to sit anywhere in the bar area if we were just there for drinks. If you are only going for drinks, there is no table service and you have to go to the bar yourself, but at the end of the day, that’s how pubs have operated for years without issues. We sat ourselves at the bar and after looking over the drinks menu we ordered our first two cocktails which were made right in front of us. It is known for its theatre here and all cocktails are made and presented with a bit of glitz and glamour. It may be gimmicky to some, but that is one of the main draws of coming here and to be honest, we enjoyed it! Okay, the prices may seem high, but are not that much more than other similar venues to be fair. Individual cocktails start at £10 and go up to about £15 and there are sharing options which are priced accordingly. They also serve mocktails, soft drinks, coffees as well as bottled and draft beers, so all bases covered. The bar staff that served us were both very pleasant, polite and professional. The second server whose name I wish I had taken was very good though to be fair, a true credit to the place. He noticed that we were struggling to pick our second cocktail and he asked what kind of stuff we liked and which ones we were considering. He gave us his professional advice and which he thought would suit us best and that guided our decision and he was spot on, our second cocktails were perfect for us so his help was very much appreciated. After reading some other reviews, we nearly didn’t come here, but after deciding to give it a go, I’m so glad we did and we will 100% be back for more gorgeous cocktails. Highly...

I absolutely loved being here from the atmosphere to the food everything was perfect. I especially loved the range of non-alcoholic drinks. For the first time I felt I was able to be involved in the experience of discovering new drinks, flavours and experiences which I haven’t found anywhere else. This made me feel included and can I just say WOW your drinks are amazing not only in taste but the whole fun, theatrical presentation was unbelievable I couldn’t stop smiling. I also looked at the alcoholic drinks menu and OMG I could practically taste them from the description making me wish I wasn’t driving that day! The alcoholic drinks that arrived at our table were a wonder to see so imaginative and interactive. Then there’s the food- as a foodie I was in heaven. Everything came out within 15mins of being ordered, it was fresh, hot and beautifully flavoured. You could taste the individual flavourings of each item you ate, which can I just say is a rarity in any food establishment, especially if the items are on the same plate so the the chef I’d like to say your talents were noted and very much appreciated, eating your food was a pleasure that I look forward to doing again. Then we come to the service from the minute you enter the establishment you are greeted by warmth and friendliness but with enough space and respect whilst at your table to not feel like they just want you to leave straight after eating. The server is on hand and very attentive when you want them but also very respectful in giving you the space you want to genuinely immerse yourself in the dining experience that they provide. I would especially like to thank Kerri who made our night with a surprise dessert for the birthday on the table and for ensuring that the experience was immersive for all the group , especially when it came to the theatrics...

We visited on a Tuesday evening, place was half empty. My husband wanted to visit this place because of the interesting cocktail menu. We were told to sit anywhere. We mentioned it was our first time, that we only wanted drinks and they said to order at the bar. My husband went over to order and he was gone for well over 15 minutes. Then he had to bring the drinks over to the table. Considering you pay for an "experience" and not just a drink, I think the team should make sure the drinks are served as they should. So you order at the bar, you wait a long time and then you have to bring your very delicate drinks to the table, we didn't know that so I just sat wondering where my husband was and what he was doing. My drink (orange glass) had a bubble which burst as soon as my husband lifted the glass from the bar, so I paid over £10 for just a nice cocktail which tasted lovely but nothing I couldn't get at another pricey pub/bar. The whole point of ordering this expensive cocktails is to enjoy the presentation. The other two drinks were really nice, although one of them had lost the "steam" by the time he managed to bring all the drinks to the table. I did managed to take a picture but by the time my husband finished bringing the others the steam was gone. No table service if you go for a drink, drinks look nice but if you are paying for the experience then you should probably go somewhere where they would serve them for you at your table to make sure you get what you pay for. I wouldn't go there for drinks again, maybe for food in the future.
