Mowgli Liverpool📍 Great indian tapas restaraunt in Liverpool. Would recommend 2-3 dishes each. The sweet delhi cocktail was unreal. Would recommend ‘angry bird’ chicken and the ‘agra ginger chicken’ . Not spicy at all but flavours were mega. #mowgli #liverpool #liverpoolrestaurant #liverpoolfood #indiantiktok #liverpooldocks #liverpoolfans #mowgliresturant #tiktokfoodie #viralvideo #viraltiktok #foodie #indianfood

Absolutely disgusted and astounded by the exceptionally poor customer service and the food at this branch! As I arrived I was lead to one of those swing tables. I wasn’t asked if it was ok so I said I couldn’t sit there due to mobility issues. Why should I have to explain my medical needs? Staff should ask customers are these seats ok? After a considerable wait I got someone’s attention. She wasn’t too happy about me asking her if I could order. She said she’d get someone to take my order. One of the things I ordered was a mango lassi. I could see by the corner of my eyes it sitting for a good ten minutes before it came to me! Whilst I was waiting to be served I noticed a Indian family of five enter. They were placed on 3 x swing tables which each is designed for only 2 people. One table had a ELDERLY couple on it, the other two women in their 30s and the final table a man in his 30s. I could see the young man in the party trying to get a table for them all to sit on together but to no avail. I couldn’t sit by and see this family being treated this way. So I asked a passing member of staff if they could change them to a bigger table as I could see ample tables be them for four but the staff could either stick a chair at the end of one or one member would be happy to sit on his own! She wasn’t budging dismissing my suggestions and claiming other tables were reserved. So I asked to speak to the manager. Out came a young man. I explained the situation to him and said that I was really disappointed that staff couldn’t accommodate them or put them upstairs where the tables were bigger (even though they said they open that floor at 5pm and it was about 3pm at the time). After a lengthy chat about customer service and duty of care to elderly people the family were offered seating together! It’s a pity staff portrayed blatant racist behaviour to myself and the Indian family! What would the owner Nisha think of this behaviour? There were ample of staff, ample of larger tables so no excuse! Maybe also poor management! Finally when my food arrived it wasn’t warm. Whilst I left to use the toilet the family had paid my bill and left. So you have lost the business of a potentially wealthy family and prospective recommendations to other families. I had a similar experience of poor customer service in Brighton last year so Mowgli sort yourself out! Train your staff (in all cases white) not to be racist and treat customers equally! I normally go to Mowgli when away on business but after visiting three branches in three locations will never return! I’m done!

𝗧𝗗𝗟𝗥: Overrated. Food was too sweet. Portion sizes and table size make you spend more. 2/10 for actual authentic Indian cuisine. Better of spending your money to pay a South Asian bloke in Bradford to make you a banging curry. Or visit Rumi on Mt Pleasant Street. 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆: Resturant and scenary was nice. Service was great too. The food? Not so much. The problem here is that it's 'money branded food', meaning labelled as authentic Indian but not actually how it's meant to taste. As someone of South Asian decent, the only thing Indian was the rotis. If you aren't accustomed to South Asian food and like mild dishes perfect for you but if you are brown and expecting a apna style cusine, you will be very disappointed. 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿: The restaurant itself was nice. The scenery was old style but ironically, just like the food, nothing to do with India. The tables however are small to make your portion sizes look bigger. With the turnover numbers the restaurant makes, no-one will notice this and say "looks like we won't go here". 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱: For 2 people (myself included), we ordered: Yogurt chart bombs (Starter) Gunpowder chicken (Starter) Goan fish curry w roti (Main) Mowgli paneer w roti (Main) Mowgli Twister (Mocktail) All the dishes were very sweet for some reason. I don't remember the last curry/salan I had were it made me want to skip dessert. The drink itself was mediocre. Nothing but a mix of drinks, soda and a mint leaf to top it all of. The problem with the food is that it's main demographic is sterotypically aimed at white demographic who aren't accustomed to heavy spicing in comparison to visiting an actual Indian restaurant where it has a deep combination of garam masala, coriander powder, tumeric, fenugreek, etc... 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲: In total, we paid £48. This included the £1 charity tip. Personally, with the business model Mowgli use, it is pricey. I'm not sure why Google has this establishment listed as ££ when £££is more realistic. You will be recommended to order 4-5 things as portion sizes are small but realistically, an average person could very comfortably do with 2-3.

Over this long weekend(queen's jubilee), I had gone on a 3 day trip to Liverpool with my family and friends. Before the trip, we had decided on the restaurants we would eat out. On the first night, we went to Mowgli. It was an awful experience there. First of all, the portions that were given to us weren't fit to be called portions. The name of the dishes looks fancy and easy to attract guests, but otherwise, they have paid the least attention to the quality and quantity of the food. For example, one of the dishes we tried was called "Angry Bird", it turned out to be two minuscule chicken pieces with an unproportionate amount of sweet salads. Then we ordered the Curries and Roti. The Rotis were immensely hard, dry and cold as-if they were prepared days ago. The curry however was the worst of all. They were so sweet and it seemed that they were drenched in tomato puree and this was a recurring theme throughout quite a number of dishes we tried on that night. For those who want to taste real Indian dishes, I would suggest they stay away as this doesn't resemble authentic Indian food even in the slightest way.

We were quite frustrated with the food so we just wanted to get out of there. I asked the waiter for the bill, and he showed up with the bill and disappeared with no way to pay. After waiting for 10 minutes I had to call the waiter again to pay and the payment included 10% service tax(tips)!!, which was included without my knowledge or consent. I asked the waiter, shouldn't they ask for the guest's consent before adding the tips to the bill(?), but his reaction was even more surprising. Like an absolute robot, he nodded and quickly disappeared without even a proper response to my question, and came back with the card reader to collect the payment (including tips!). Overall it was a horrible experience there and we will never go again.

With this review, I have attached some photos that were collected while having dinner there. I wouldn't even give it one star, but without a choice,...
