We've been here probably hundreds of times, but won't be going back. First of all, our main waiter was very good, and tried his best. We would give him 5 stars for being kind and friendly. That's about the end of the good news. We chose to come here, for a family birthday meal, and: - The food was badly cooked. With special concerns about the meat. The burger and the venison has made at least two of us ill, and I've not yet spoken to everybody else since the meal. - The fillet steak was provided blue, when it was asked for as medium. Not a slight variation, which would usually be fine, but vastly wrong. Tough, uncooked, glistening cold in the centre. Blue steak. Nothing like medium. A replacement fillet steak took far too long. - Venison dry and overcooked. Asked for rare and the order was taken this way yet 'corrected' by a member of the waiting staff when it was brought over and told that it's been cooked 'pink'. Dry, cold, and hard. Couldn't finish it. - Several of the meals appeared to be either 'flame finished' or simply burnt. Comes across as style over substance, or attempting to cover for poor cooking. - Some of the staff were rude and inappropriate. I was 'shushed' by one who when I started talking to him, interrupted and spoke over me. Others threw items down onto the table without a word. No apology was given despite this being raised immediately after with another member of staff. - Addition of rude 'bouncer'. This is a new thing and not particularly well implemented. One of our party was aggressively challenged upon entry in an rude way by this member of staff. A sulking guy who ignored the door and was just looking at his phone, in a dark tracksuit(?), only looking up to snap at customers making their way in, if they had reservations, isn't a great welcome. - Loud dance music is great and a lot of us enjoy it. It's just a little bizarre to have it quite this loud and intense while you're trying to eat. The RBG can't be everything to everybody, at the same time. If they want to be a club, they should drop the food and just become a club. There was nothing wrong with the music, it was just far too loud. - The toilets were an absolute disgrace. Messy, dirty, water completely covering the floor, and full of people taking drugs. This used to be regarded as one of Liverpool's best restaurants but the fall from grace is remarkable. Like I said, we're not going back, which is such a shame after so many years, great memories of important family events, and the food used to be absolutely cooked to perfection.

Conveniently located in the historic Halifax House in Brunswick St, Liverpool This was built in the 1870s as the head office of Union Bank of the British Empire. (If you walk down the street towards the port of liverpool, you will see the Beatles statue along Canada Boulevard). Most of the heritage buildings in Liverpool are very well conserved and maintained. Even the streets are well paved and clean. Very nice! We had a "table d'hote" or set specially curated by our hosts from the best bank in the world. Starter - crispy duck salad Refreshing, tasty. Whets the appetite Small serving Main - American 🇺🇸 lobster🦞 800g Firm and succulent. Herb garnish and juicy to bite. Fabulous! Served with chips Dessert - Sticky toffee pudding The quintessential British dessert? Perfect to complete the meal Drinks - Cotswolds signature single malt, mojito, growers gate chardonnay from South Australia 🇦🇺 One of the best meals for the trip. We had a private tour of Anfield before the dinner. Really enjoyed the company of many Liverpool FC fans and even ex-players like Sander Westervled were also present that night. The significance of Klopp's last game as Manager of LFC that weekend we not lost on us. A really unforgettable evening. Thank you, SCB!

Update: 17/01/2020 I had such an incredibly terrible meal that I could in good conscience leave review below without an update. Opted for the bread and butter for a start, but the bread was super dry and the butter too rock hard to spread. I then shared an Angus beef burger with fries and a halloumi burger with sweet potatoes fries, both were truly disgusting. The beef was underseasoned and flavourless and the fries undercooked, especially the sweet potato ones. Both burgers were covered in ketchup, despite it not being listed as an ingredient. This restaurant should be ashamed of the quality of food they served. I will not be going back and I'd urge you to reconsider visiting this place. You get better, fresher food at Wetherspoons. ~~~~~~ The USDA Angus sirloin steak was spot on – tender and tasty, especially with the truffle butter on top. Would happily recommend it to anyone. The bread and butter and olives for starters were excellent too, but the prawns didn't quite hit the mark. The sides were decent too, but not amazing, the chips could have been crisper and the broccoli was under seasoned and a little overcooked.

Myself and my partner came here for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago and we were happy that we finally found somewhere that was classy with the amazing decor and the background jazz music which made us feel relaxed with a nice bottle of wine. We came here last night for a meal however, and we were shocked to walk in to loud dance music played by a dj who looked like he didn’t want to be there and the place was packed with people wearing t shirts and tracksuits who were mostly what i can describe as teenagers. We had a nice meal and the steak was cooked perfectly however the loud ambience made the whole experience annoying as i could hardly hear my partner! We sat at the bar afterwards for cocktails and seemed to be surrounded by drugged up young lads and girls as their eyes were wide open and they couldn’t stop messing with their noses. As we finished up and went to leave the restaurant, there was a lad and girl smoking on the step at the front door who were spitting on the steps and we had to step over the spit! My partner recalled seeing spit on the floor inside on the way to the toilets even! A place like this with such amazing decor and architecture deserves some sort of dress code after 5 like some restaurants do to avoid filling the place with rowdy teenagers so that other people can actually enjoy a nice meal and not have to shout to talk to their partner. The look on some of the peoples faces who were dressed like us in suits and dinner dresses were mutual as it just made the place look cheap and like it’s becoming another place for instagram photo-taking fame hungry people. We probably won’t return as the restaurant is filled with more fish lips than a...

I visited the restaurant 12\11\14 with my daughter. On arrival we were greeted in the usual pleasant and efficient manner ( I am a fairly regular customer) and we opted for a drink at the bar before being seated.

The first point at which I was a little disappointed was when the bartender commented on our choice of cocktails rather unnecessarilly and appeared rather put-out at my request for straws. He then failed to respond to my request for serviettes/drinks mats although I think he may not have heard me and I collected them myself.

The meal and the service was as usual very good.

I informed the desk that we would finish off the night at the bar and I asked another member of the bar staff if he could make me a Brandy Alexander, he said he could and my daughter also ordered a cocktail.

The drink I received bore no resemblance to the drink I am familiar with but he insisted that this was the correct mix as per the menu. I did not see this drink on the menu that was why I had asked if he could make it.

My daughter downloaded the recipe from her phone and he then made the drink according to that.

I was then presented with a bill and I informed him that I had a tab, I was made to feel rather uncomfortable so I went to the desk and asked if they could inform the bar regarding my bill.

This may all sound trivial but my daughter and her partner said they would be reluctant to visit this venue again and I, as a fairly frequent customer hope that this less than pleasant experience is a one-off.and that the excellent standards of customer service I am used to have...
