I love the concept and being a year sober I really wanted to love it. When I went to celebrate my year sober, they weren't doing the mocktails (it was Monday evening). The only other drinks they seemed to have were various Fentimans and San Pelligrino.
The atmosphere wasn't that nice, there were a lot of people who clearly knew each other and it felt a bit post-AA meeting where everybody knows each other and if you aren't a regular you stick out. Lots of the regulars were smoking right by the doors, and then one of them put his half smoked roll-up on the table i was sitting at with my husband and just walked off like he was in his own home.
Places like this that support sobriety are so important, but if you're looking for a good dry bar with interesting non-alcoholic drinks I don't think this is it. It seems more like a non-alcoholic dive...

It works brilliantly. You never feel like you're missing out on anything and it means the day/night can be enjoyed by the whole party.
The food on offer here is great too. The produce is locally sourced and is put to use excellently, creating tasty dishes.
I'll definitely be trying The Brink again as the couple of times I've been so far have been...
Read moreThis is one of the most amazing cafe/restaurants I've ever been to. It has amazing food, great music and non-alcohol cocktails to die for. And, it is a place for people in recovery (i.e. alcoholics looking for somewhere cool to hang out) and I've never seen anything like it. If you're in Liverpool go and eat something there. I just had a Thai curry there and it was better than anything I've had in years...and you don't need to have anything to do with addiction or recovery to appreciate it.
I was in Liverpool for about 4 days and I went to the Brink each day to eat, drink, appreciate the awesome sounds and work on my laptop.
I can't recommend it highly enough.
The photos below were added in 2019 and are of wooden panels on...
