I've eaten at Bakchich a few times now and popped in with my son for lunch whilst shopping a few days ago. . .
It was around 2pm mid-week and no problem being seated 👍🏼
I'd say they have a pretty extensive menu - great choice of dishes! I love the laid back vibe in here and the decor. Great place for lunch.
The staff are really pleasant and there's no rush to order. There's so much to choose from - it's tough!
We both went for the mixed swarma (Lamb&Chicken) cooked in Lebanese spices which is served on a freshly made flatbread with a beautifully fresh salad, rice and fries.
We also both got the fresh homemade lemonade. I got the Rosa and my son the Lemon&Lime 👌🏽
The food (with condiments) and drinks were served before we knew it. I've got to say that there was enough for two . . . on each plate! Amazingly generous portion sizes. We're big eaters and couldn't finish them.
Taste-wise it was absolutely delicious! Every forkful was full of flavour and thoroughly enjoyed. I managed to wrap a ton of the swarma plus salad and a few Tzatziki fries in the bread wrap and finish the lot before my drink and there was still loads left on my plate!
What I loved about this meal was it was not greasy at all. It was what I would call clean food - extremely well seasoned and cooked and plenty of it! Washed down with the zingy fresh and tasty lemonades this was an incredible meal.
I will definitely be back!...
Read moreBakchich was an excellent dining experience offering a unique Lebanese cuisine so rarely seen within the food scene of the city. With generous portions and especially helpful staff, I look forward to eating here again.
Though the menu was slightly difficult to interpret for people not familiar with the names and jargon, the staff were more than happy to indicate which meals fitted my preferences.
I initially forgot to mention my allergies to nuts and sesame seeds, as we were distracted with my friend’s birthday, and when the food arrived, I looked at my butterfly chicken burger covered in sesame seeds. Realising my mistake, I asked the staff to change the burger, but our server came over and said he would be more comfortable serving a new different dish to prevent any risk of contamination. I was delighted to experience the staff’s consideration of their customers.
In terms of the restaurant’s design, the decor was impressive and felt very authentic, adding further to the Lebanese experience. The staff even played Happy Birthday on request for my friend, and the whole restaurant sang along wishing him well.
Overall, Bakchich is a restaurant I highly recommend people to try, even just once. The staff make great efforts to ensure a fun time for their customers and the food is great value for its distinctly remarkable taste. Will definitely...
Read moreDate night ruined because a server spilled hot Lamb tagine stew on my girlfriend's leg. She ran off to the toilet to clean it up, meanwhile, staff were cleaning the floor, table and chair. After a couple minutes, another employee asked if she was ok and apologised, and I had to tell her that I'm more worried about my gf being burned. It wasn't until then that they went to check up on her in the women's toilets.
When my gf came back, she was too embarassed to leave (or even stand up) in a heavily stained dress through Bold Street and just wanted to finish our meal and get out. Once we finished, she went to the bathroom to check on her leg. It was only then that the manager came to speak to me alone. He apologised by saying "Sorry, mistakes happen" to which I replied "They do but that shouldn't and I'm going to have to complain" and he rudely responded "So mistakes don't happen?".
I asked for the bill and, though I didn't hear them, it seemed like they were arguing over whether to remove the tagine. The manager sent the server to us to apologise and to charge us for the meal. In the end, they decided to charge us for my meal and a coke.
Her leg did get burned (which she told a member of staff), though it's hard to see because of her complexion. Her dress is completely ruined now too. We wish we...
