This was a recommendation and we made a bit of a detour to see the place. Record players and all. On a bright, busy Saturday afternoon with the streets starting to fill with tourists and shoppers this place was empty down stairs (5 punters inclusive) and all but mostly full upstairs.
The stsff were part of what ruined the experience really. He (singular - empty pubs do not need more) clearly did not want to be disturbed and made no effort to engage and quickly returned to his laptop at the end of the bar. You could easily have mistaken him for a punter. Despite a wide selection of ales the place seemed soulless and despite being surrounded by other eateries and bars and shops - not busy.
Upstairs is the draw of this place. The record players and vinyl. However, it is a solitary masturbatory, self indulgent experience. This is not an atmosphere being created but a bubble of escape. A good selection of drinks and a decent...

When I went they had a singer / guitarist playing covers to a packed and lively crowd on the ground floor and a much quieter acoustic open mic session in the basement, which was my preference. I had a lovely evening.
I gather that the upstairs floors have a record shop but I wasn't able to explore up there. They even have a label called Jacaranda Records.
Absolutely recommend it for any music lover on a night out or any visitors to the city looking for somewhere with a strong...
