Super pub….. well worth a visit! The beers are tip-top and I have always had a pint of any particular brand which is well-presented and palatable. All the staff are cheerful and friendly - hard to do on a weekend when they’ve been on the feet for hours - nonetheless they make people welcome. The food quality and service are also five-star: place your order, give your table number and it arrives on time and with no fuss. A former sailor’s pub, previously known as the ‘Mona’, the ‘Liverpool’ engages with the city’s booming tourist industry - very forward thinking of them. Of the pub’s atmosphere, well, you could go in at most times and find it very convivial. Any pub, of course, doesn’t have to be packed to be convivial. But unlike a previous Tripadvisor reviewer who downgraded due to not being able to watch his favourite team on the pub’s television, well, the unwritten law of pubs is that you accept whatever game is being shown at the time in favour of others - this said reviewer really should get...
Read moreWent here for an event & pics below are their entire vegan option - a head of celery, some cucumber sticks & tub of hummus - pre-booked a couple of months on advance. & costing £10 per head. Everyone around us in the group was shocked at how bad the option was: they had tons of buffet food - sandwiches, salads, chips etc. Those who'd ordered gluten-free had a similarly paltry selection but theirs included cheese tortilla chips (so these couldn't be given to anyone vegan or dairy-free). As we'd had to wait over half an hour for our food to arrive, there wasn't time to obtain a refund & grab a takeaway option elsewhere, such as Pret. Plenty of nearby pub choices offering better & cheaper choices - less crowded, better service & not so noisy too. Avoid! UPDATE: Response from pub staff to situation: "Find a vegan restaurant love. We're scousers and we love our meat" - abysmal attitude to letting down a group of sixty who'd booked with them...
Read moreVisiting Liverpool with six friends all of us senior citizens. The Liverpool was next to our hotel. We thought we would try it for breakfast great choice Food was great and the staff were lovely. We went back for dinner a couple of times and breakfast food excellent again. Our last morning we checked out of hotel. We thought we would go to the Liverpool for breakfast before our train journey home. Paula was cleaning up outside and said they were not open yet. Disappointed we thought we’d have to go somewhere else but Paula said they would open up early for us. Can’t thank Paula, Yvonne and Tracey and staff for making us so welcome and another great breakfast. Definitely will go back next time in Liverpool. Highly recommend this pub....
