Had dinner here last night, and honestly, it was utterly wonderful. It was so good, and I was enjoying myself so much, that I didn't even take any photos of the food, which is a pity, in hindsight.
From the moment we stepped inside (without a booking) they were super-friendly, attentive, and just looked after us so well. My beloved has a disability, and also a food allergy which can cause consternation in many a restaurant, but The Quarter staff took both in their stride, being very careful with the details but without making a fuss, without making him feel "special"!
The food was incredible. We hadn't eaten since early that morning so had giant appetites. We got the bread with oil and balsamic to dip in - they cooked fresh flatbread for us to avoid any allergy issues - warm and soft - perfect. Himself had Pollo Pasta with bacon. They cook everything fresh anyhow, but they made the sauce especially without garlic or onions and Óran said it tasted amazing, which is not an easy thing to achieve - so fair dues to the chef. I had a pizza with two types of onions on it to make up for the dirth of the allium family in my life. It made me so happy, I can't even express it!
Himself had a Raspberry Bakewell with warm custard to finish. I haven't seen him that happy about a meal for quite a while.
The staff, I have to say, they were all so attentive, but not in your face. They all seemed to get on so well with each other too, which is such a good sign. The atmosphere was lovely, and great music. It's worth mentioning that they are LGBTQI+ friendly, which you would expect everywhere, but they made it very clear, which is a nice touch.
I cannot fault a single thing. One of the best eating out experiences I've had for a very long time. Thank you The Quarter...
Read moreMy wife had been here for breakfast with her family a few weeks ago, so we tried it out for lunch. We visited at Friday lunch time but were eating our main meal of the day. I'm not keen on Pizza and wanted more than a Salad (I wish I had chosen a salad!). I wasn't keen on the Pasta options (but probably should have chosen Prawn Linguine), so was left with a choice from the 'Grill' section of the menu. My wife chose the same as me and we both regretted our choice of Lamb Kofta. Although it was a generous portion it was not what we had hoped for. "Greek Salad" was a bit of a stretch... throwing a sprinkling of feta on lettuce, cucumber and tomato is not quite 'Greek' to me. The Kofta had some flavour but was not the greek taste we had anticipated? The Tzatziki was good. The Flatbread was soaked in fatty Kofta juice. I am not expert but wonder if the Kofta had been frozen or made a few days ago? Lots of juice but quite dry (happy to be corrected).
We both left smelling of 'kitchen & cooking'. I'd recommend asking to sit further into the restaurant away from the open kitchen where it seemed to have a better atmosphere and aroma.
Apart from the smell, the restaurant and toilets appeared clean. The toilets were well decorated.
If you make better menu choices I'm sure you will enjoy eating here. We left to have coffee and dessert elsewhere due to the smell and disappointment of our poor choice of main course. The dessert options looked nice.
Staff were nice enough, nothing over the top. It wasn't very busy. Give it a try. I doubt we will...
Read moreRecently visited as a group of 16 for a Saturday morning breakfast.
First impressions when I turned up was Wow, this place belongs on a street in Italy 🇮🇹 fantastic and looks so authentic.
We ran into an issue straight away before being seated, there is no car park and street parking means you must pay which is fine except its only an app which was an absolute nightmare and took many members of the group 15 min to sort, not the restaurants fault but be aware.
Inside the staff greeted us with a smile and showed us to our seats in the back area due to our group size.
Service was a little slow, we ordered teas and coffees to start and I would estimate it was around 15min before the coffee was brought across, a little too long in my opinion.
Food orders were taken but we were told we wasn't allowed to order omelette due to us being a group and it would slow the kitchen and slow the service.
Food was ok, nothing spectacular, Eggs Benedict Royale, a Full English (which we wasn't allowed to remove the black pudding from, they had to bring it on the plate, very strange) Kids scrambled egg on toast and a kids breakfast.
4 Breakfasts 2 of which were kids, and 4 drinks 2 of which were kids came to around £55, plus parking charge.
Would I say it was value for money, probably not. I have no issues with paying for top service and food but the service wasn't all there and the food was nice but nothing...
