We had a night planned at the Philharmonic Hall and wanted to grab some food before we went, I had been the Philharmonic Rooms before, but only for a quick drink and was really impressed by the grandeur of it all. Having researched the menu before hand it all sounded tasty, so we chanced it on a Friday at 4pm. The place was rammed, customers looking round like headless chickens trying to get some direction from the staff, I approached the bar and asked did we need to book for food, the man struggled to grasp what I was saying, eventually he said 'no no walk in till 5pm, can sit over the, just not in the grand dining room as its closed'. Well 'over there' was to little side rooms with about 6 two seater tables in each, both packed. We spotted a table with no chairs and jumped on it before anyone else could get it, we hunted out 2 chairs and we were at least sat down anyway. You'd think the staff would be used to this level of business and offer more direction to customers, not everyone is a regular patron. Ready to order we went the bar, when I said I wanted to order food another staff member said 'ill need to check if that's ok', puzzled I waited and when he came back he said 'sorry we only do walk-ins till 4pm' stunned in amazement, after battling to get a table and already been told it was ok till 5pm, I asked him to check again, he came back and apologised at his mistake. As I was new to the pub app I got a free cider voucher (Yay, highlight of the visit!) We were squashed against a doorway, with people constantly going in and out, unsurprisingly it took a while to get our food, but when it did arrive it was hot and tasty, but the prices are premium for the portion size and quality so could only give 4* for food. We didn't have much of a chance to look around because there was just so many people, it was also incredibly hot in them side rooms, was melting.

Overall the visit didn't go the way id of hoped, I think it would be of much benefit to the venue if the staff offered more guidance and direction to customers who haven't visited before or who are clearly looking confused. We did get our food and it was good, it just would have been nicer in a more relaxed environment.

I would visit again, when I was able too during a more quieter day /...

Went here as a recommendation for the architecture and arts. Fair enough as that is the only + in this establishment.

We made reservations and right off the bat, the gentlemen who approached us for our seats looked like he couldn't be bothered, although he did show us to our seats. It was very very warm as well.

First encounter with the server was 30 mins after we were seated (albeit it was busy, but would've appreciated anyone coming to let us know). I went to the bar to just order (before the server approached us) and the barman asked if we reserved seats, I said "yes" and they said it will be table service because we reserved.

Our server was very pleasant and warm, but the service is slow. We ordered 1x appetiser, 3 drinks, 2 mains, and a dessert to which we asked to be brought out altogether (anticipating the wait time). The appetiser came out first, then the rest with the dessert. Dessert which was meant to be warm was cold, seemed like it was sitting out for awhile and brought out together with the mains (which was fair enough since we asked -- but the appetiser was served first?).

To be fair to our server, we did see her take orders, then make our drinks -- we were joking between each other that she's probably also the one making the meals etc lol

But yes, not the best experience. The old fashioned was super sweet, the duck croquette was really sweet as well...

The Philharmonic Dining Rooms, located in Liverpool, is an iconic Victorian pub with a rich history and distinctive architecture. Designed by renowned architect Walter W. Thomas, this Grade II listed building, commonly known as "The Phil," has been a cherished establishment since its opening in 1898. Stepping into The Philharmonic Dining Rooms is like entering a time capsule of opulence and elegance. The ornate interiors boast intricate woodwork, stained glass windows, and mosaic tile floors that transport visitors to a bygone era. The pub's name is derived from its close proximity to the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, emphasizing its connection to the city's cultural heritage. Beyond its architectural allure, The Phil is celebrated for its extensive selection of ales, ciders, and spirits, providing patrons with a diverse and refined drinking experience. The pub's commitment to quality extends to its dining offerings, with a menu featuring classic pub fare prepared with a touch of sophistication. Whether it's savoring a pint in the grandeur of the Victorian-era surroundings or relishing a well-prepared meal, The Philharmonic Dining Rooms invites guests to immerse themselves in the unique ambiance of Liverpool's social and architectural history.

Amazing place! Best food I got on Liverpool, definitely the best vegan apple pie I had in my life. If I ever pop in Liverpool again I’m totally coming back to check again on their top quality red wine selection and real, tradicional, well served British food. Delicious vegan versions, delighted myself on the most delicious lentil pie with lots of tasty gravy. Salad is a special mention cos I’m not a fan of carrots and yet I loved it with leek. Prices were down to earth and place was beautiful. Fans of The Beatles, Paul McCartney specially will be thrilled. For me, dreamer and architecture student, I got mesmerized by the trip into Victorian times. It’s a big place, with lots of more private area where larger groups can meet and gather together in a different vibe from the rest of the consumers - that’s because their menu has from coffee to drinks. You can order from table with your phone or at the desk. My only complaints are about the dismissing attendants, they were not very welcoming, and the next day leftover champagne they serve as a free treat for the tourists of the sightseeing bus could be a little bit less obvious but it won’t kill you and it’s free.99

This is one of the gems of the Liverpool pub scene. It's exterior & particularly interior are lavish and should be on the top ten to visit! However I would be expecting to report the amazing bar had a great range of beers & choices. When I arrived one person was already querying the quality of the cask beer ( London Pride) which was then taken off leaving a stout, Doom bar and a Nicholson badged Pale ale. We tried the pale ale which smelt vinegary, tasted like the end of the barrel and therefore returned and also queried. The staff said had a similar complaint earlier changed for the one remaining beer but left the pale clip on for others to suffer!! Worse still the gents urinals which are listed and included on tours as being lavish opulence, stunk! Not just a bit, they reeked. Talk about poor maintenance, somebody has let the quality here fall away completely they need a steam clean and total overhaul! So we left, we purchased none of the intended meals and I noticed the pub was quieter than normal ( I wonder why!) This was a Friday night so I just cannot see any excuse for the poor beer options and the lack of quality appalling to locals and visitors alike.
