I visited at around 2:30pm in the afternoon, eager to get their infamous pistachio croissant which had a £1 deal accompanying it if I bought a drink too. However, upon arrival I was disappointed to be told that they had run out, and I asked the barista what she would recommend. I was recommended a generic almond pastry as it would be similar but my hunt for a pistachio sweet treat led me to opt for the pistachio cookie of theirs instead. Kindly, another barista did point out I could thus get the cookie for £1 with a drink and this accommodating attitude is what I appreciated a lot.
The cafe was very small, thus seating was quite limited and the two tables with sofa seating were occupied so I had to opt for a seat next to a bin on the two available high-chair seating area. Unfortunately another employee had taken the other seat so I was sat closest to the door and bin.
Service was quick however, I was told to take a seat after my order was taken and I was happy that the order was to be brought to me. Less than 3 minutes later, my pistachio cookie and hot chocolate arrived.
The cookie was fairly small and looked like it already had a bite taken out of it but overall, was quite yummy. I must admit the rain and overall mood of the day alongside the croissant I wanted running out dampened my experience but it is what it is. I will be taking the employee’s advice about coming before 11am to try it before it sells out perhaps.
The hot chocolate was actually quite nice, I appreciated that it had a latte art look and the milk was frothed well. The use of dark chocolate was a lovely touch too since some places tend to brew sickeningly sweet hot chocolate and this would not have fared well with the pistachio cookie. The cookie itself although tasted quite dry by the end, did have a deliciously soft and chewy centre which I adored. I also loved dipping it into the hot chocolate. I am not sure if it was done on purpose but a large bit of chocolate was still stuck to the bottom of the cup and was not mixed well so that was rather surprising when I was nearing the end of my drink but I allowed it as I like dark chocolate. If it was too sweet then I probably would’ve rated it lower. Unfortunately the hot chocolate was missing the ‘hot’ part too so overall, I believe the hot chocolate was rather overpriced at £4 for what I got.
I did grab a loyalty card but am unsure if I would actually return to see if the pistachio croissant is available another morning. I am not fond of the surrounding area and the cramped nature plus rather mediocre food did put me off slightly. I do thank the baristas who were working this day as they were as accommodating as possible and very kind, not sure about the other employee who was taking up the already limited space doing work on her laptop. Thank you...
Read moreI was on a quest to find the best mocha in London. Since I work all over the city, I thought this mission wouldn’t be too difficult. But I never expected to find it right next to my home.
One Saturday morning, I decided to invite my boyfriend for breakfast at the nearest café. It had already caught my eye with its beautiful display and that gorgeous pistachio croissant.
When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed. The atmosphere was cozy and pleasant—very different from some other cafés I had visited.
Since I was on the hunt for the best mocha, I decided to go with the classic order: “Two mochas and one pistachio croissant.”
Little did I know that right next to my house was the best café, with the best mocha and the best pistachio croissant I had ever tasted.
Thank you, Etrê, for fulfilling your mission of making every Sunday morning special. Ever since then, I always choose to have my...
Read moreI left feeling quite disappointed after my first visit. I ordered tea and the caprese focaccia, which was meant to be toasted. However I received a cold and soggy sandwich that was falling apart (I did see them putting it in the oven but it didn’t seem to do much for the focaccia). The only bits of the bread that were crunchy were the dry ones and the bread was so crumbly it was very difficult to eat. I suppose I wouldn’t be complaining so much if I either got a delicious sandwich or if it cost much less than the 7+ pounds I paid for it.
All in all, the cafe looks really cute and I wholeheartedly welcome these sorts of businesses in the area so I hope they will manage to delivery the quality of service deserving their current price point. If they do, I would gladly revisit this place as the atmosphere is great, seats are comfy, there are quite a few plugs and they also offer a...
