recently visited Nawrish on Commercial Road, and it left a strong impression. From the moment you step in, the place feels welcoming, with simple décor, clean tables, and staff who are genuinely attentive. The vibe isn’t flashy, but it’s comfortable and unpretentious, which actually suits the restaurant’s style perfectly.
The food is the real highlight. I tried the lamb shank, and it was cooked to perfection, tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The spices were well-balanced, giving it depth without overwhelming the meat. The chicken and rice dish was equally impressive. The chicken was moist and flavorful, paired with rice that had a subtle, aromatic seasoning. It’s the kind of homey, satisfying meal that makes you feel like you’re getting a real taste of something authentic.
One thing that stood out was the chili sauce. It had just the right kick, spicy enough to excite your taste buds but not so fiery that it overpowers the dish. It complemented the lamb and chicken perfectly, adding an extra layer of flavor without stealing the show.
Portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable for the quality. Whether you’re popping in for a quick bite or a full meal, Nawrish delivers. For anyone on Commercial Road looking for hearty, well-prepared food with a little spice, this place is a solid choice. I’ll definitely be...
Read moreI'd never tried Somali food before, our son had come to this restaurant a month ago and recommended it.
Three of us shared the lamb shank platter with beef. This came with salad, lentil soup, some spicy chilli sauces, water and a banana.
The atmosphere was great, it's a busy place, obviously a bit of a community hub, nice and buzzy. I love places like this, so that was already a good start. The staff are lovely, very friendly and happy to answer any queries.
The food came very quickly. Everything was absolutely delicious, but the lamb was definitely the star of the show, beautifully flavoured and cooked to perfection, so tender and aromatic. We ordered the platter for 1-2 people, and that was just about right for three people, we didn't manage to eat all of the rice. We weren't at all sure what to do with the bananas either, so I brought those back for breakfast tomorrow. The waiter did later explain that the bananas are supposed to be eaten with the rice dish. Oh well, you learn something new every day! That would have left less space in our stomachs for that gorgeous lamb though!
This restaurant will be the first place I want to revisit the next time we come down to London to visit our son. We might even pay another visit this weekend! The other items on the menu sound interesting, particularly...
Read moreIn yesterday afternoon around 17:30 I order food which was absolutely disgusting what I expected was entirely different because food I was given was not fresh plus wasn’t even food that was fully processed but remaining raw, cold and tasteless I’m still not well this time I’m writing your disgraceful comment, I went near the kitchen to show what I was given to the kitchen staff and they was even laughing at me didn’t even notice or care about it. I’m sure is one of those kids who hasn’t been teach manners because of their documents or rights to get a job or do what they love work here to survive however I’m not sure if I would be back in this restaurant but given peace of advice would be train the kitchen staff to be more careful and polite about the customers. I don’t know if he’s around but there was a gentleman with flat beard who has got this sort of character in the role he’s not around anymore...
