I have visited this cafe on a number of occasions but today I was shocked!! I ordered eggs royal as I normally do but when it turned up, the salmon was brown in colour which I know is not a good sign when it comes to salmon. I brought it to the attention of the waitress, who then took it back to the kitchen. Within a few minutes, the chef came storming over with my breakfast and, what looked like the brownest piece of salmon I’ve ever seen in his hand trying to tell me that the salmon was brown due to it being smoked, and it was prime cuts of salmon!! It was more like salmon trimmings, which is the cheapest salmon you could buy and as Eggs royal is one of my favourite breakfasts, I know what salmon is meant to look like, and that certainly was not it. I felt the chefs approach to be very hostile indeed, he was trying to tell me that the brown was normal when it’s clearly not. Also, for me to be surrounded by the chef, MOD and the waitress was very uncomfortable for me. I didn’t want anything else after being surrounded by 3 people all trying to confront me, and decided to leave before I lost my temper!! And just before I was about to leave, the MOD had the cheek to ask me to pay for my coffee!! Which I responded to with a big fat NO!! It’s a good job I meditated...
Read moreIn short - 45 minute wait. No kids menu. Apparently white sliced bread is 'Artisan'. Should have gone to Cote.
I had brunch here today and was very disappointed with my experience. Firstly I had to wait 45 minutes for our food, which in isolation I normally don't have an issue with (It was Saturday after all!), but this was not the only problem.
I am really shocked that this cafe doesn't offer a kids menu. I was with my 2 year old son and after finding out that there was nothing on offer for him, I asked the waitress if he could have a child's portion of what I was having, and she said YES OF COURSE!
I had the scrambled eggs, avocado and artisan bread. The egg and avo was very nice, but the toast looked like it was bog standard white sliced bread from a local supermarket. My son's nan was with us and she kindly offered to pay. It was disappointing to find out that she had been in charged full price (over £9) for my son's egg and toast despite the waitress agreeing to him having a smaller portion.
The overall price was nearly £40 for two adults and a child to have some breakfast and drinks. I would have been better off going to Cote or Bill's. It would have been cheaper and the food would...
Read moreQuite a few reviews on here about the unreasonable manager.Arrogant and rude in my opinion.Refused to knock off some money for an awful falafel wrap citing the excuse the money is in the till now. When one if the main dishes is a falafel wrap.you would expect just that.especially for 8 pounds.what came was a rolled up tortilla packed with lettuce and 3 falafel pieces. They were meant to be home made..however the recipe was nothing authentic and nothing like a real falafel.Falafel should be crispy on outside and soft in the middle.these were flat tiny and didnt taste nice.but mainly there was nothing inside the wrap.the tortilla just rolled up to make it look bigger.I told the waitress and she offered something else but i declined as i had eaten the wedges on the side.I am sure the manager will write and excuse himself as he has done on all other negative reviews.in denial I thi k.His cafe is poor quality and am surprised they still are open.rude and delusional.I would avoid this cafe.go and grab a sandwich from greggs instead. As i did after spending a 8 pounds on nothing.Good luck 1917.you...
