Wimbledon's hidden gem!
Looking at the bar from outside, would expect it to be just a posh cocktail / wine bar crowd if had never been before. But, inside are just your local, casual and down to earth people - friends having a drink, families having a meal etc. Nice to see everyone having a good time!
Clean, tidy and well presented bar. All of the staff during todays visit gave a warm welcome, were friendly and perfect service throughout.
Thanks for great time, will happily return again soon! 10/10
-- Updated review 05/01/2024-- Revisited today as previously didn't eat here. This afternoon I had a few drinks and had a meal too as previous were for drinks only. Coffee was great and came with a shot glass of chocolate for added bonus.
The Fish Finger bun served with fries was delicious. Served, hot, fresh and packed with flavour. It was well worth visit. Ordered before 5pm so came with a drink too. Really enjoyable visit!
Tip for improvement..... anyone new here will not find the mens toilets without asking where they are. A clear / lit up sign there would be perfect š
Added 5* for food and two new pictures to the review.
--Updated review 15/06/2024-- Return visit review 6 months later....
The Chicken Maki Bowl was prepared perfectly, cooked steaming hot and full of flavour. Don't get to see the chef to get a name but please do pass on the well earned thanks!
Drinks served fresh and cold, quick at the bar and in app.
Google reviews only goto 5... but enjoy a 6 from me. It might not count for much from a lone reviewer but keep it up! Looking forward...
Read moreWent there on a Monday afternoon with a couple of friends and ordered a bottle of wine. The menu clearly said £24.95 for that bottle but they asked for £25.95. I pointed out that it is no big deal but the price on menu is £24.95. The waitress would not even acknowledge my comment and indicated it is quite normal that they can charge a price which is higher than what is on the menu. She said the menu prices are out of date. Surely this is against Trading standards ?.
Even though there were no customers in the bar, the waitress showed no interest in helping me take ice bucket, the bottle of wine and glasses to the table. Not a big deal but a very cold and unfriendly service and reception in a bar with no other customers.
We decided that should not spoil our afternoon and tried not to let the waitresses attitude bother us. The wine was great and so we decided to have a second bottle. Thankfully there was a new waitress at the bar who was better.
I know in this day and age it is hard to get motivated staff in the hospitality sector, but ALL BAR ONE must be scraping the barrel to employ waitress like the one I encountered. Not bothered at all even when there are no other customers. Very unfriendly and unwelcoming ! I can only assume that there is skeleton staff and service on week day afternoons and they have the A Team of waiters and waitresses for evenings...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisited 13.5.23 and as we got there, the female waitress did not give us a chance to sit down and relax, but went into autopilot and had us standing whilst we could have been seated and relaxed, but others came in after us and sat down for a while with ease.
Ordered tap water with lemon with meal, they only bought water? One of the glasses had something on the outside, should not be there. Asked the waiter for condiments once he brought our food, ketchup, vinegar and one other, he only came back with vinegar? Had to ask another waitress for ketchup and she brought it towards the end of our meal the tiniest amount and my food was warm by this point. Tartar sauce sadly was bland. Very poor customer service and the restaurant was not full when we arrived. Attention to detail is important but that was lacking.
Disappointed as they are well known and have been around for some time. If I was paying, my husband paid, I would have taken off the service charge.
First impressions last so will be my last time there. Terrible to have to...
