I must have walked past this place 4-5 times today trying to make up my mind what to eat for lunch down Maltby Street Market. I've never seen Ethiopian Cuisine anywhere else but it kept catching my eye so eventually made my mind up to try it. My choice was the Mixed Combo of Beef/Chicken dishes which came with rice and a choice of 2 sides. The Spinach Green and Chickpeas were my choice of sides along with a spoon of hot sauce costing £12 for the lunch. I've got to say, this was one of the most delightful food experiences for me in a while. Everything was cooked to a lovely tender texture and the meats were both flavoursome without being spicy. The rice was excellent being light and fluffy and really enjoyed the additional Spinach and Chickpea sauce adding extra flavour. An additional dollop of spicy sauce was also offered which i accepted and added a little extra spice but was by no means overpowering. The portion size was spot on for lunch and would likely have paid a good bit more for the equivalent in a restaurant although I can imagine overheads would also be higher. The Lady and Gentleman serving the food out were nice and polite and I liked the look of the food stall. This looked clean and tidy with a 5 star Food Standards Hygene rating on display. I'll definitely revisit next time I'm back in London and in the Bermondsey area.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would easily do! Every time I’m in Maltby St. market I have to have it. The best Ethiopian food I’ve ever had in London!!! Super flavourful and great price! I normally get the 6meal vegan combo with rice or injera. Incredible flavours and the staff are so nice and welcoming! Please open a restaurant so I can come everyday!!! Can’t recommend this place enough! Thank you!!!!

They catered at our company for Black History Month. Presentation was spot on! Even down to their matching uniforms. Food was DELICIOUS! They served a very generous portion per person & there was even enough for seconds! Very thoughtful of them to also bring tupperware for anyone wanting to take leftovers home. Amazing guys - well done!

If you asked me what the best meal you can get on Maltby Street is, I'd have to say it's Amen's vegan combo: a selection of moderately to strongly spiced vegetable dishes served with rice or the preferable injeera bread and an optional very spicy sauce. The chicken and beef combos are good, but the "side dishes" are so substantial, flavorful, and full of vitamin and mineral-rich ingredients that you might as well just order the vegan combo and feel good all day. 7–9 quid, I think. [Goes well with a Bad Brownie to compensate...] The Amen team are extremely friendly, efficient, and lovely to talk with. I have seen so many people asking for free samples, scared of committing to an unfamiliar cuisine. If you read this review, don't worry, buy first and then try. You will not be...
