I recently went on a sake brewery tour and had a fantastic time. Our guide, Luis, was incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the craft of sake brewing. The tour itself was quite small and intimate, which made for a more personal and engaging experience.
Unlike beer breweries, sake breweries can be much more compact, which was surprising to me who was expecting to walk through large facilities. However, what the tour lacked in size, it more than made up for in quality. The focus was on tasting, learning about the sake-making process, and understanding the history and growth of sake in London.
Luis and the team were full of insight, answering all our questions and sharing fascinating details - from technical brewing methods to the cultural background of sake. The tasting session was excellent, and we got to try several different varieties, each with its own unique character.
Overall, it was a fun, educational, and thoroughly enjoyable experience. If you're curious about sake or just want to try something different, I highly recommend the tour.

Read moreI don’t give out 5-star reviews frivolously - very good places get 4 stars from me. To get 5 stars, a place has to stand out, and Kanpai lands a solid 5-stars. In my experience, finding a good sake-ria is quite rare in the UK - believe me, I’ve looked - and that was top of the list of priorities for my trip to London. Not only did Kanpai not disappoint, they blew me away. The staff are so friendly and helpful - and really should teach classes about the art of sake making. I had 2 different flights, both of which were highly recommended, and I wanted to buy a bottle but didn’t in the end because I really couldn’t decide which of the six (that I sampled) to buy 😆 I live about 2 hours away so had to settle on making sure I return to London soon for the exclusive purpose of spending enough time here to decide what to take home! Anyway- this place is a total gem. If you like sake or want to know more about it, make Kanpai one of your priorities 😁 PS - they also have a good beer selection and fun Japanese drinks...
Read moreI visited this place last week and had such a great time.
The bar is very located conveniently in the Bermondsey / London Bridge area amongst the great beer venues. It’s a 10 minute walk from London Bridge train station.
This place is a Sake brewery/distillery. The drinks are made on site! There is an extensive menu for Sake on tap and by the bottle. There are also cocktails, beers and other drinks for those that don’t want to drink sake.
The owner/manager is passionate and so knowledgeable. He helped guide me to a selection of sake’s to try through the night. His passion really made our experience great.
We didn’t try any food but would love to come here for a sessions and get some chicken wings to compliment the sake. This place is a must visit for anyone who wants to try a new drink or experienced sake drinkers.
