Austin Friars Balls Brothers — Restaurant in London

I went to Gingers bottomless drag brunch show a few weeks ago. All the acts were incredible! It was fun and really inclusive. Definitely worth the visit - but only for the show. I don’t recommend the restaurant at all.

I had a bad experience with the restaurant’s waiter who was really unprofessional. When I arrived at our table I sat down on an unstable and wobbly chair. I moved it to the side so that no one else would sit on it and hurt themselves if it broke. Shortly after, the waiter stormed over and scolded me and my friend (who did nothing wrong) for moving the chair because he ‘looked stupid and was confused’ because he didn’t know that I moved the chair. When I explained why I moved it he angrily challenged me stating that it looked fine. I invited him to sit on it. He did. He then removed the broken chair by storming off with it. He came back to scold me again. He moaned at me that I should have told him - how would I know he personally set out the chairs as a customer? Me telling him that he needed to calm down angered him even more. When my friend intervened to try calm him down, he was rude to her too and he stormed off again.

Personally, throwing a temper tantrum, overreacting and making a scene in front of everyone, scolding me and then ignoring our side of the table with other guests who weren’t involved for the rest of the event is just plain unprofessional and childish - all for moving an unstable chair. If he was so confused, he could have just walked over and seen the chair placed...

Christmas lunch for our team of 33 yesterday was above excellence. Stepping up to the balcony where just our team were sitting, my first vision of the area layout was excellent, with all decorations and enhancements that would be expected at Christmas time. Our tables were in groups rather than one long table, this was ideal for us and worked out very well. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, seating comfortable and so very cozy. We had three courses, each pre-selected course had good options to choose from. Dietary requirements were of no problem to them and were adhered to, this was certainly a 5 Star lunch and 5 Star service, for me it was the best turkey dinner I'd had for some time, courses were delivered with a good rest period between each one, no rushing, and the staff were very attentive. We hosted our work Christmas party for a group of 126 people, and it was absolutely fantastic! From the very beginning, the communication with the team was excellent—every detail was handled smoothly and efficiently.

The staff on the night were super helpful and incredibly friendly, making sure everyone felt welcome and taken care of. The three-course meal was delicious, with plenty of compliments from our team about the quality of the food.

They were also extremely accommodating when our live band arrived to set up. The space worked perfectly for both the seated dinner and the band’s performance, creating a great atmosphere for the evening.
