Horrible male staff member - in his 50s, balding hair and working today (18 July) at around 12.30pm on the lunch rush. This man has racially profiled me twice and assaulted me today whilst on my work break in front of my colleagues for allegedly ‘stealing’ a BAG. The first time he targeted me was following HIS error when he grabbed my bag after I had paid for it and I told him that I was returning to the tills following purchasing something new. This absolute jobsworth had actively sought me out, printed off my receipt as I left the till and was already nearly out the door. He chased me, grabbed me and accused me of theft in front of my colleagues and other professionals in the city. He then began shouting vitriol at me through the door as I continued on to the street and he frightened the young student I was with. How MISERABLE must your life and occupation be to have to racially profile young women… for a 40p bag which I paid for on both occasions. I’d be shocked if he did this to men and he is a coward for wrongly accusing me on two separate occasions. Did he check that I was the last person to use the till? Having spoken to corporate management, this is completely out to protocol and you have breached many rules and displayed a complete lack of conduct. This would actually be classed as common assault / battery. Scumbag on a power trip at the self checkout, how embarrassing for you. I’ll spare some change the next time I’m in store for when you need to tip up the piggy bank which you’ve been paying for the bags for you vile individual. Have spoken to corporate and a complaints investigation is underway. Racist and scummy....
Read moreI had an extremely frustrating and unprofessional experience at the self-checkout area this morning in 16 Oct 2025. I approached a self-checkout till that was clearly operational and showed a green light. A male staff member (approx. 50s), who was working underneath the machine folding M&S plastic bags, allowed me to begin my transaction. After I had already scanned several items, the staff member suddenly interrupted me with an incredibly rude tone, stating: “Young man???? Use that one!” while aggressively pointing at a till that a previous customer had just left, which was not yet ready or available for scanning. My key point is this: It is not the customer's responsibility to understand your internal cleaning or restocking schedule. If a till is illuminated green and functional, I should be able to use it. To interrupt a transaction already in progress and speak to a customer in such a disrespectful manner is completely unacceptable and ruined the entire shopping experience and my day. I visited here every day for the past 3 years and never experienced...

Shelves are always fully stocked. There's a good variety of food on offer for lunches, as well as meals to make at home. The produce is nice and fresh. There is also an in-house bakery where fresh pasties and rolls are made every day.
The checkout is all self-service, although queues tend to be long during peak times, it does go down quite rapidly.
Staff are friendly...
