Was hoping to get in to excellent Kew Italian, ‘Q Verde’, but fully booked. This looked similar - like a genuine family run Italian. Time Out review is alas well out of date. New owners now it would seem. Wish I’d known before I went as there are a zillion positive reviews flying around pre-2021, when previous owner obviously sold up.
Sorry but the current owner needs to go to somewhere like Q Verde to see how to run a restaurant with care and flair.
For starters this is hugely overpriced. Food is bland through and through. Mixed fried seafood was decent sized portion, but dry and flavourless. Chicken Milanese likewise tired near-Findas quality. Couldn’t finish it. Salad likewise might as well have been from a supermarket packet. Flavourless fries. Evening saved just about by expensive but reasonable Chianti. Didn’t bother with desert as couldn’t face any more… No Italian ambience at all. Place is dour and depressed. Waiters both tried hard to help, though was initially sat by the toilet in a half- empty restaurant (very bad opening move…) Was offered a cheese plate on the house as a goodwill gesture since I and my guest did carefully and politely share our disappointment with the waiter. A pepper cheese, a herb cheese, a blue. Nothing very fresh or remotely Italian. Couldn’t finish them either. I’m listing all this because they need to know. No desire to be negative for the sake of it. But I sensed no love of food or the restaurant trade here. Carluccio’s next door does it all much better, which I’m so depressed to have to say, as I can’t stand chains and really want to support small businesses. I wish you all well, but go to Q Verde, or Rome for a weekend, and come back inspired and clued-in and turn your...

Everything we tried was bursting with fresh, high-quality ingredients. We couldn't resist starting with the complimentary bread service. This wasn’t your average supermarket loaf. The warm, delicious bread accompanied by top-notch olive oil, cheese, and olives provided a delightful prelude to our meal. My wife tried the pasta with black truffle and seafood, while I indulged in their luscious lasagna. Even our daughter enjoyed personalized ravioli with a little bit of everything from both of us plus arancini, and zucchini fritti.
Whether you're a local or visiting a theater, Bacco Ristorante Italiano is a must-try. With its fantastic food, warm atmosphere, and exceptional service, it's no wonder this restaurant has become a mainstay in the area. Ditch the ordinary and experience a taste of true culinary...
Read moreI quite dissapointed with the service that I received during my recent dining experience at the restaurant. While the food itself was good, the complete lack of service was completely unacceptable.
After being seated, we waited for a full 20 minutes before the waiter finally came over to take our order. After sitting, there was no offer of water or drinks while we devided what we wpuld like to eat. This was frustrating, but what was even more disheartening was the fact that the waiter did not check on us at all throughout the meal. The only other interaction we had with them was when they came to clear our table after we had finished eating our mains, once our table was cleared you would expect to get a desert menu or drinks although nobody came.
To make matters worse, when we commented on the lack of service and asked to have the service charge removed, there was little acknowledgement or apology from the staff. This was extremely disappointing, as it showed a complete lack of concern for customer satisfaction.
While the food may have been good, it is not enough to compensate for such poor service. Dining out is supposed to be an enjoyable and complete experience, and the lack of attention and care that we experienced at the restaurant fell far short of expectations. This being said, other tables looked like they were being well looked after, as we got up to pay a table near the front were having a great time and were being offered Limoncello, it seems like we may have just...
