We tracked down this good local Fuller's pub in preference to some of the other local offerings, which are doing more self-consciously 'posh' food since we were last in the area about 6 years ago.
This is a pub with a great atmosphere...a 'rugby' pub with lots of pictures, shirts and posters...even a pair of rugby boots in a frame. It is a comfortable and pleasant place to stop, have a meal and a pint. If you want it there are large TV screens at the back of the pub for watching sport.
Both of the guys on the bar were doing a good job when we popped in for an early meal. Straightforward pub menu but none the worst for that. Our food was great! Good beer selection!
Thoroughly enjoyed my fish & chips and a couple of pints. We chatted for a while and agreed that we'd call in here next time we were in Richmond. 5-stars! I'd be happy if this...

The Sun Inn has a mixed bag of reviews online. Some people love the pub, while others find it to be overpriced and overrated. The most common complaints are about the high prices, slow service, and inconsistent quality of food. However, there are also many people who rave about the pub's atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food.
Overall, the Sun Inn is a decent pub with a loyal following. If you're looking for a place to watch a rugby match or enjoy a pint of real ale, the Sun Inn is a good option. However, if you're on a budget or looking for a more upscale dining experience, you may want to...
Read moreBack off the main road a a quiet street, the Sun is an unexpected gem of a find. A lovely old Fullers pub with a small horseshoe bar in the centre as you enter. The two barmaids were fantastic: cheerful and helpful (listen to their food tips, you won't be disappointed!). Although the bar space is quite small, the staff were very efficient and no-one had to wait long to get their orders. There's not a LOT of room around the bar, but there are two rooms out the back with TVs to watch whatever sporting even you might be into. There is also some seating out the front with a small area down the side of the pub as well. The steak sandwich I had was huge! One full steak, melt in your mouth medium rare with mustard, onions and some greens - fantastic and for under a tenner!!! The Guinness was excellent as was the...
