Exploitation and Rude behaviour
I went in with 3 of my friends on 14th May 2023 and all of us were tipsy since we came for dinner after a couple of beers. They were trying to exploit us after finding we were tipsy.
They initially confused us while taking the order and also told there are no drinks included in the meal plan We waited for over 40 mins still to find they haven’t started preparing our order. Everyone who came after us and online orders were served and they started preparing only when we complained after 40 mins Even when we complained, we overheard one telling the other “Deal him” in a very rude way in their local language which we could understand I don’t complain about the food. It was good enough for the price but the attitude of people and the exploration mentality!!! Please avoid if possible.
I took this photo even though I was tipsy so as to leave a review to let everyone know and when we started leaving the premises, the employee called us back. We went back thinking it might be something with the bill and he started questioning us. Why did you take the photo, is everything fine etc etc
Edit - Just noticed that whenever anyone puts a bad review, some profiles with 1-2 reviews (Obviously fake) gives 5 star rating and give good review and says exactly opposite of the bad review. Go...
Read moreI recently visited Beirut Canteen in New Cross and unfortunately had a mixed experience.
On a positive note, the shawarma was very good – fresh, well-prepared, and full of flavour. However, the lunchtime deal signage outside the restaurant is unclear. The information about the timing of the offer is printed in very small text, which can be difficult to read for anyone with poor eyesight. This makes the promotion appear somewhat misleading and disingenuous, as the actual deal conditions only become apparent once you’re inside.
When I questioned the charge, I felt pressured by a member of staff (a short, tubby gentleman) to pay rather than have a proper discussion about the misunderstanding. While the situation did not escalate, it left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome.
I would encourage the management to make the offer details clearer on the outside signage and to approach customer queries with a bit more understanding. The food is enjoyable, but the overall experience would benefit greatly from clearer communication and a more considerate attitude...
Read moreIf you visit this shop. Make sure you have cash.
We tried to pay them. They accept cash. I don't really use cash lately. I found some cash in wallet but they said they don't accept paper money. Then we tried to pay by debit card. They said they don't accept card. They give us a bank account to wire money ( What? a restaurant need wiring to pay? Ok, I tried to launch HSBC mobile account to pay them. Then we found that they have no internet. They then ask us to goto a bank and get cash to pay them the day after. But I am not near by the day after. What a mess. What can't we just pay them by debit card or credit card or apple pay etc. If they want people to pay them by bank transfer (tax avoidance maybe? Why don't they provide wifi or at least make sure the shop can have good 3g Signal? We end up need to go back to the shop next week. (No bank nearby too to get cash lol) I just find that this is quite rude of how they handle the...
