Wakey Wakey — Restaurant in London

I've been a long time goer to Wakey Wakey, have always loved it, but unfortunately I just need to give some pretty stern feedback.

The place has started to trend quite heavily downwards. It's just the little things but they are starting to add up. The prices are that of I would say a premium cafe and have been rising as well (ofcourse inflation is an aspect of this) but the quality has also steadily gone down hill. Sometimes the dishes look amazing, but other times they are just slopely thrown together. Like today, my poached eggs were undercooked, the bread was cold, the egg wasn't even on the bread but was just thrown in there and all over the plate, like you could tell that no care had been put into the aesthetics. The other order were missing pieces and when we requested the additional pieces the dish was already cold. The tables are also starting to be a bit sticky and stuff is looking at times a little dirty. The service personnel is always happy and the coffee is still great.

But I ask you guys please, if you are going to charge those prices for a brekkie you need to make sure the quality is there to reflect it.

This isn't the first time either, the standard is very varied.

Had to share my awful experience I had yesterday . Popped in around 4pm ( hardly anyone in) and ordered a falafel .

I thought it was strange that it was taking 40 mins to arrive .

When it did finally arrived ,I looked inside and there was I think looked like one fafafel and it was all mushed up to disguise !!

I mentioned it to the waitress ( clearly not clued up in what a fafafel is supposed to look like )or just covering up . I knew she would say it's all mushed up ..clearly purposely missing my point ..with lack of fafafel...

She said if I would like another one in which I obviously declined.

My point is the person preparing my wrap seemed to be laughing with another waitress ....how awful is that? ....that's why I decided to take a closer look inside when it finally arrived . It was almost like " we can get away with serving substandard food .... I have been in before and the cook who is usually there was not in ..never had a problem before ..

I won't be coming back in .. management /owners .really need to follow this up?

The manager there could not be bothered to come over to talk with me ..clearly knew what was going on ?

On a positive note ..I did get my money...

Real mark for me is 2.5 stars. I had this place in my Want To Go list forever. Expectation was so high.

I had the Eggs Royale and Sunset smoothie.

Smoothie amazing, tbh. (£5)

Eggs Royale... meh: Eggs poached perfectly but that's about it. The English muffin was toasted but too lightly, so it was very mushy. Hollandaise sauce was tasty yet way too thin over the eggs. Paid £11. It was worth £8.5 at the very best.

But the thing that makes me HOMICIDAL, is that you get given a menu when you enter and then you have to: 1) find a table; 2) make a note of table number, and after browsing the menu 3) stand up & go to the till, 4) place your order and then 5) PAY BEFORE ( 🤬🤬🤬 ).

With those prices you can bloody afford waiting staff, can't you?

Yes, the food is alright, but the treatment of the customer is appalling.

I've done so much work for that order that I feel like I need to get paid myself.

Really spoiled my morning.

In any other country in the world that would be business suicide.

But we're in the UK, ladies and gents... Everything is allowed.

We have to stop going to places that treat us like this. We need to learn how to vote...
