Bella Del Gelato — Restaurant in London

Quite disappointed by the recent experience here at Bella del Gelato. Their ice cream looks great but they don’t cater at all well for non dairy eaters. Just the odd sorbet reminiscent of when a nut loaf was the vegetarian option in the old days.

On this visit we had a pancake and waffle. The pancake was passable but only just. The small waffle was completely underwhelming. The first red flag being a lump of dough being taken out of cling film, pressed and kneaded like a pizza and mashed into the waffle maker.

I have never seen this before having only seen fresh liquid being poured into a waffle iron to deliver a light, crisp waffle fluffy on the inside. This was just nasty.

Here’s what I liked:

• The ice cream display looks inviting as do the various containers of toppings

What I didn’t like:

• Indifferent welcome like we had disturbed her time on the phone • lack of non dairy options • the waffle (described above) • price point • devoid of atmosphere- no music, dry and dull

How places like this get such rave reviews and manage to stay open is beyond me.

Do I recommend going? NO Will I go again? NO Was it good value? NO Price point: $$

I love coming here, its one of the best places in London for Gelato in my opinion. The staff are so friendly which just makes the occasion so much better. A great range of flavours and very hygienic, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
