Why you'd find yourself on Sheen unless you happened to live near the area is a good question, but alongside a very decent selection of restaurants sits this little, or rather not-so-little gem of a pub. To say it's spacious in an understatement. The beer garden is probably bigger than my entire house put together and on a sunny day, this may well be one of the best places to sun yourself with a pint in South West London.

There's a good selection of drinks, including a couple of guest boxes of Weston's cider, Young's ales and all the usuals you'd expect, plus a tasty food menu with plenty of choice. The garden is spacious, with an outside bar, and during the Olympics they've rigged up a couple of TVs. There's even a jokingly fenced off "adults enclosure", and there was a nice mix of parents, young professionals and locals all getting along quite pleasantly.

Then there's my favourite part of the pub - a large selection of well-known and very obscure board games that appear to have been frozen in time from the 1980s, along with mini table-tennis and snooker for hire. I could happily be deposited and entertained in this place for an entire day.

And while this may sound like the perfect summer pub (and it is), my first visit came in the cold depths of winter where, despite its rather grand rooms, the bar had a very cosy feel to it.

As mentioned, you're unlikely to find yourself near this place unless you're a local or taking a road trip to Barnes or Richmond, so there's only one solution - get searching for a friend in Sheen now. Yes, you'd be using a friendship just to visit a pub, but when the pub's this good, it's a more than...

We deliberately picked here as we have 4 kids under 5 and it states ‘family friendly’ on the website. Anything but. The four kids meals came 15 minutes after all the adult food (6 meals which also took 30 mins and wasn’t busy) this was a nightmare to manage; we appreciate the different kitchens send different menus at different times (not ideal but can understand) but surely some common sense with kids food, especially when they ordered all the same. When kids had finished they started to run around a bit - as 1-4 year olds do. There were 2 other family groups and 2 couples - so not busy and we were watching them whilst (as parents know) we actually managed to have a conversation! We were immediately told that the kids had to stay at the table. The 1 year old was crawling by our table and we were then told he shouldn’t as there could be glass, which we would expect in a pub and were fully aware of. This was told to us curtly and with no empathy or apology. The kids had to then sit and watch our phones while we finished, Completely undermining our reason for family pub and garden. To top off our unwelcoming visit!! One of our children lost our tab key. Fully appreciate complete inconvenience but we were spoken to rudely and the supervisor just dismissed us and didn’t return. We were then told we couldn’t have our bank card back!! We were left for 20 minutes not knowing what was happening. Never felt so unwelcome anywhere. Not sure what the pub’s definition of ‘family friendly’ is but clearly website created by people without kids. Wouldn’t recommend or return. Ruined family occasion and annual catch-up. Don’t advertise something...

Tonight (29.6.23) i had the worse experience in my entire life. I used to come to Hare & Hounds often but not anymore after today’s experience. On arrival, the staff told me that we are not allowed to stay after 20:00 with children under 18 years old, I said it is strange because I came here before and stayed with my son until after 20:00 to have dinner. 5 minutes past 20:00 a family of four arrived and ordered a food. I approach a waiter and asked if I was allowed to place an order, he said he would speak to his manager and few minutes after he did bring the menu and said it was ok, I was ordering food, another waiter came and asked me to leave because of the new rules. I was with a few friends and it was really embarrassing. I raised the issue about the family having dinner, if they would ask them to leave straight way, I was told no. I am taking this as discrimination towards me and my son. I asked for the GM number to call him and raise it, I left a voice message as his phone was busy, he called me back and left a voice message which was very unprofessional. So, at Hare & Hounds “East Sheen”, I do not advise any family to go anymore even because of the discrimination they have towards...

Such a lovely pub with such a lovely garden sadly the food did not match the setting. After a disspointing meal a few weeks ago we put it down to a one off. After a lovely afternoon we ordered some food to share. The hummus and crudite were just carrot battons. When asked if we could have a little more than carrot it was met with some defesiveness from the assistant manager aksing us "what do you want then?" out came some cucumber and nothing else. Then our fish sharer platter came out. On it we had 3 burnt prawns, 3 cod cheek scampi, some makeral pate that didnot look at all appealing and some lettuce and dips. We felt for ÂŁ38 this was beyond disapointing and again asked to speak to the chef - who was too busy. The assitant manager came out and shouted at us that there was "no pleasing us" and that we are now barred from the pub. When we tried to clarify this we were told that the senior team would be informed but for now we would not be allowed back. Altough the food was terrible the rest of the staff were lovely and we enjoyed the rose and garden.

Well I don’t really know what to say. The hare and hounds in East Sheen has always been close to my heart, but since they had their beautiful make over I really struggle to find equally great pubs in the Richmond area. We were there last Sunday with my German family and the roast…. The ROAST… yeh go and see yourself! Oh and the sticky toffee pud!! Delightful! Absolutely stunning! The staff is just the nicest, loveliest and best! Elena and all the others are just wonderful ! Thank you for making every stay to memorable!!

Absolutely brilliant pub! It was lovely before they renovated, and they've managed to make it one of the nicest pubs in London! There is a great atmosphere inside, with a pub and restaurant, and the outside is large and very pretty, with several huts available, and lots of tables and open space. Emma was looking after us and she brought so much energy every time she came to our table. Definitely made us feel welcome and happy! I highly recommend the Hare and Hounds! It's absolutely my favourite pub in London.
