One of the finest breakfasts I had in a while. I've been trying cafes around Kingston and Surbiton and St James cafe is a gem. I ordered some of the basics and I was mire than impressed my eggs was perfect runny and wasn't covered in oil, my bacon was crispy on the ends with the right amount fat and the chips was so crispy but fluffy in the middle (best chips in my opinion better than majority I fish and chip shop). The venue is medium and can accommodate can easily accommodate groups of 4 to 8. For prams it's abit tight but we managed yo get into one of the corners. St James cafe provides more than breakfast and lunch they also provide your basic coffees. St James is above your average greasy spoons if you want something quth quality this is the place. This is definitely going to be my regular spot for breakfast.

UPDATE: I was sad to learn that Café owner, Bruce passed away from Cancer in December 2024. My best wishes to his family and friends. May he rest in peace. Everyone’s wishing café owner and cooked breakfast king Bruce well after serious illness forced the sudden closure of Surbiton’s best-loved eggs-sausage-and-chips choice, Café St James in St James’ Road. One of the best value diners in the area, it hasn’t opened in five weeks. Get well soon! I will miss my Christmas lunch this year :(

Sehr sauber, freundlich und nicht so teuer. Waren gerne zum Frühstück dort. Keine Kartenzahlung nur bar.

I've been going to this cafe for years, and it's always been my favorite breakfast spot in Surbiton. The fried breakfasts are exactly what you want from a cafe. If you're looking for a proper fry-up, as opposed to what I call a "posh" fry-up with home-made beans, then this is the place for you. The food is never greasy, and the chips are always cooked to perfection.

The staff are friendly and welcoming, and they always make my two children feel special. The place is always clean and tidy.

The only downside is that they only take cash, which can be inconvenient if you don't have any on you. However, there is an ATM right across the street, so it's not a big deal.

Having taken the time to understand why they only accept cash and appreciate the owners point of view. (Whilst I don’t agree with the logic) I respect his ideas and love that he has taken a stand for something he believes in, it’s actually a nice quirk and something which I think adds character. It’s an independent with its own mind, that’s what makes it even...

Me and my husband visited this cafe this morning and we won't be returning! We ordered a breakfast £6.00 each, the food that came out on the plate was shocking, fried egg was tiny,1 piece of bacon,1 small sausage and the tinned tomatoes were laughable!had one and a half tinned tomatoes, unbeliveable considering the mark up on food!Man behind counter was very rude and told us if we didn't like it then don't bother coming back!

We then went to sunshine cafe down the road much better quality and...
