I came here because they advertised Chinese crepe (jiangbing) and was super excited to find a boba place open so late. Unfortunately, they stop serving jiangbing at 8pm, so I wasn't able to get that.
Still, I was excited for their boba and thought the store was super cute, with a fun "lab" concept. However, I'm picky about artificial flavoring right now, so I got their "premium" milk tea with tapioca pearls. I didn't see a jasmine or green milk tea option but trusted that it would be hard to mess up such a basic order.
Unfortunately, I found out after my first sip that I should have probably opted to drown out the horrible tea in the flavored syrups they have meticulously displayed. The bubbles were slightly soft, but still chewy; however, the tea was horrible. It tasted worse than anything I've ever tried (the office's pg tips was previously my benchmark for low-end tea). My husband said it reminded him of a cheap grocery store generic black tea. For over £6 a cup, I feel like they could have afforded to at least brew with a medium quality tea bag, if not actual loose leaf tea.
It feels like this place expects you to just drown out their horrendous tea with a ton of flavoring, so they don't bother using even halfway decent tea leaves. I should have known something was wrong when I was literally the only East Asian person in the store. I had to throw away more than half the cup after forcing myself to at least finish the bubbles. I hope I didn't...
Read moreI came for the Boba Lab and the wall of Boba plushies, but it was a little disappointing. The lab is just for show, you don't get to interact with any of the items or make your drink. All you do is pick the flavors and they make your drink. Also, the flavor options given to you aren't very good. (No matcha or regular milk tea, just fruity flavors) For the plushies, you can't buy any one that is displayed, you can only buy certain ones that they have at the counter, and the selection they have there is less appealing. For the actual Boba tea, we ordered a Tiger Brown Sugar tea and a Taro + Creme Brulee tea. (We also got a matcha+white chocolate mochi). The brown sugar Boba tasted like incredibly sweet milk and the taro was very mild sweetness. There wasn't very much black tea flavor in either of the drinks. The mochi was unlike anything I'd ever had before. The outer layer was familiar to me, but inside it was basically sweet matcha buttercream. I rate 1 star to bring down the 4.8 star rating, which I feel is too high. If you're in the area, it's a good Boba place, but if you are 30-40min away like I was, don't make the...
Read moreI recently visited Boba in London, and it was an absolute treat for my taste buds! The moment I stepped in, I was greeted by a cozy ambiance and a friendly staff ready to assist.
The boba tea selection was impressive, offering a wide range of flavors and customization options. I opted for the classic milk tea with tapioca pearls, and it was simply divine. The tea was perfectly brewed, and the pearls had that ideal chewy texture that I adore.
What sets this place apart is the attention to detail. The drinks are not overly sweet, allowing the natural tea flavors to shine through. The freshness of the ingredients was evident in every sip. I also appreciated the choice of milk alternatives for those with dietary preferences.
The presentation was on point, with cute, Instagram-worthy cups and straws. The staff was knowledgeable about their menu and helped me choose a drink that suited my preferences perfectly.
If you're a boba tea enthusiast or just looking to try something new, I highly recommend Boba. It's a little bubble of joy in the heart of London, and I can't wait to go back and explore more of...
