We have been visiting this wonderful Indo-Chinese fine dining restaurant for over 12 years—right from just a few days after they first opened—and it has remained one of our absolute favourites ever since. They serve truly authentic Indo-Chinese cuisine while also catering to specific dietary requirements such as Jain food (vegetarian without onion, garlic, or potatoes), which makes our visits even more special. The variety available for us is impressive, and every dish is prepared with great care. The staff have always been exceptionally polite, attentive, and helpful—a quality that deserves genuine appreciation. The recently updated décor is beautiful, creating a warm and inviting ambience with vibrant, welcoming vibes that make dining here a pleasure every time. There are so many dishes we love and would happily recommend. In starters, the Taipei Paneer, Salt & Pepper Okra, Kungpao Potato, and Mumbai Chilli Paneer are absolute must-tries. For the main course, the Sizzling Hakka Noodles served on a hot plate with butter are a delight, the Schezwan Noodles are bursting with flavour, and the Vegetarian Manchurian is consistently delicious. This place has not only maintained its quality over the years but has also kept evolving to enhance the dining experience. We truly wish them continued success and look forward to coming back again and again.

This was my first time visiting Bombay Wok — I actually found it on TheFork! I went to Hounslow to visit a friend and thought, hey, since I’ve driven 40 minutes, I might as well make an evening of it. And let me tell you, the restaurant did not disappoint, baby! We ordered the Pepper Chilli Beef, Kung Pao Fish, Singapore Noodles with Prawn, Chef’s Special Rice, and a couple of cocktails — a Fresh Berries Mojito and a Piña Colada. Everything was packed with flavour, and that piña colada? Easily one of the best I’ve had in a long time — the cocktails really hit the spot. Everything was reasonably priced too, and the 50% discount definitely came in handy. Shoutout to Emilija and Margi for their lovely customer service — both were friendly and attentive once things got going. That said, it did take a little while to get started. We were seated but waited over 10 minutes for menus and eventually had to ask for one 😏. Emilija even came to take our drinks order before realising she hadn’t given us the drinks menu! She was like, “I didn’t give you one?” But once things picked up, the evening was smooth sailing. Great food, great cocktails, and a nice atmosphere. It’s definitely somewhere I’d go back to.

Fusion flavours here with indo Chinese cuisine. Certainly value for money. The venue is okay and has plenty of space. Food was okay with 1 or 2 really great dishes(honey crispy and tai pai). The waiter /front desk guy was great. His service and attentiveness was good but what really stood out was his guidance through out the menu and his knowledge of the menu and the cooking of some of the dishes. As a foodie and an accomplished cool this is always good for me to know when I am questioning on the menu. Chicken lollipops were not great and neither was the sweet and sour and very odd crispy noodles with ice cream. Messy eating and just not that great a combination as it sounds. Paid parking available. Drinks a little pricey as you would expect in most restaraunts. Thanks.

ZERO STARS- THIEVES and GOONS, I had the worst experience today with Bombay Wok. I had ordered noodles, veg manchurian( gravy) and Rice and came to pick up.

I picked up food but soon realized that the gravy was not there for the veg manchurian so I called them back and the horror started. First they denied and accused me of telling lies for a gravy.

Then when I went to them , a person who called himself the owner started shouting and aggressively gestured to myself. I asked the owner to not shout and check the CCTV but he became aggressive and asked me to get out of the premises. I had no option as was scared to death.

I am a regular customer and this seems to be a change of management at the restaurant that is obnoxious. I later called the restaurant to complain and ensure this doesn’t happen to other customers. They told me that the person would call back but have not heard back.

All in all the whole evening was ruined and would strongly advise to be careful of the management and check the food you get.

Response to Bombay Wok Commentary below as unable to respond on the thread

Dear Bombay Wok Team

Thank you for responding to the concern. However, the response has further reaffirmed the belief on my earlier classification of the restaurant going to THIEVES and GOONS who would sooner or later bring the downfall of the restaurant. The fact that your new manager thought that a regular customer is SCAMMING the restaurant for JUST A CURRY associated with Manchurian Dry (minimal price difference on the menu) from an order with 3 other items shows the complete picture of the culture shifting to GOONS.

However, I appreciate you might like to know the details so here is the REAL STORY - I picked up the takeaway and put the takeaway in my car on the front seat. I was driving and when I applied the break, the dry manchurian box fell over. When I was putting the box back, I realized that the curry was missing as there were only 3 additional boxes. When I called the restaurant - I thought this would be a simple miss but the lady told me that the curry box was placed as the first box and they counted a total of 4 boxes. I informed the lady that there were indeed 4 boxes but there had to be a total of 5 boxes citing a potential lapse in your quality check. When I came over, the manager(who disguised himself as owner at that point) - told me that the curry might have fallen off . When I tried to tell the full happenings of the fall being of the dry box within the car which could potentially have torn the bag and that I had not stepped out, he started shouting and responded aggressively. In fact ,it was the manager who put words in my mouth saying that the bag was torn before - I could not even speak with a response to tell the above given the intimidation and told him that potentially it could have been the case as I had just collected the food 10 minutes back. I had to tell the manager to not shout at me and had to move out given the aggressive nature of the reaction as mentioned in my post.

Secondly, I later called the restaurant and actually was PROMISED a call back in an hour(second Lie in your response) - you could check with the lady at the counter who picked the phone.

Thirdly, you say in your response that you have a CCTV which to my surprise was not known to your manager as seeing that would have been the easiest solution to the assertion that the customer is SCAMMING for a curry. Now, I understand that this could be a third lie from the staff but just sharing for your visibility. If you do have CCTV footage, would love to see my order pick up and the reaction of your staff when I had requested for a footage on my return to pick up the curry which would clarify the truth.

Lastly, I appreciate you taking the time to post the response but it is my duty as a regular customer to let you know that the real story so that you can pass on facts to real owner for taking appropriate measures...

UPDATE EDIT! - obviously Lucy has replied on behalf of the owner. If your website or signage on the door specified bookings only option on weekends, then we would not have come!!! We have come several times without a booking and have never been told about any booking only option. You certainly do not need to educate us on the etiquettes of booking in advance! We are not ashamed of posting honest reviews and your hostile and unprofessional response is precisely the attitude we were originally disappointed with. Your CCTV will only support what we have already stated. Lucy please learn from this and look into anger management or anti-anxiety medication. It is not befitting of a ‘manager’ to be so rude and unprofessional.

Original post.

This restaurant used to be a family favourite until the last visit. Unfortunately Lucy, the so called manager was so unwelcoming and hostile. The entire restaurant was empty except for 1 couple but Lucy insisted that our family of 6 could not come in because they were full. A quick look around revealed this not to be true, she then changed her stance and said we could come but not sit on any reserved tables. This was perfectly reasonable so we agreed despite our reservations about her attitude. Lucy did not take us to any table or advise us where we could sit so we had to look for our own. There were 2 reserved tables which we avoided. The tables available were next to each other but had a small gap, so we shuffled them closer so that our family could sit closer. This bought on another meltdown by Lucy who said we had to leave if we wanted to sit together. One of our party then suggested that that we could sit separately because everyone was hungry and didn’t want to leave. Lucy reluctantly agreed to this. One of the group (a successful owner/manager of several restaurants) politely advised her that he didn’t want to offend her but we didn’t feel welcome in the restaurant and that she should be friendlier. To this, Lucy’s reaction was so over the top, exaggerating that he was shouting, he definitely wasn’t. She then started pretending that her issue was about tables and chairs being moved to which she was reminded that she ignored our request for guidance on where to sit. Lucy was rude throughout and when asked about the owner, Lucy stated he wasn’t available. She refused to be polite and and went off into the kitchen. She left the group no choice but to get up and leave. We will definitely avoid going there if we see her. Quite sad for the owner whom we are sure does not know about his employee. Overall. Food is generally delicious here but ruined by the so...

Really disappointed. Today on 18th Feb 2022 (fri) ordered some food to takeaway costing around £40. I live around 12 miles away from the restaurant. Came home and saw there was a mistake in the order I was given chicken manchow soup instead of veg. manchow soup. It was a waste as the soup was for a family member who do not eat chicken.

Called up the restaurant to inform and the lady on phone (who supposedly called herself the manager) was not ready to admit that there was a mistake on their side. She kept saying it was miscommunicated from my side and that why I did not say when my order was repeated to me.

Anything I was trying to tell her was futile because she did not want to listen and admit that when the order was repeated to me they did not say chicken. Had that been the case, i would have corrected it there and then.

On top of that she started calling us rude & disrespectful when all we were trying to express was our disappointment that we have paid for something we cannot consume or come to return.

These things happen, everyone understands but the least a renowned place/restaurant can do is have some decent staff on phone talking to customers who offer solutions to customers rather than trying to put all the blame on customer who is already in loss.

If anything like this happened with me or any of my friends before with any other restaurant and we call and inform - we get a simple solution that no worries might be a mistake we can refund/exchange it now if you can get it or on your next visit.

The lady here at Bombay wok, gave us this solution when I ASKED that this is what I expected from you instead of a big explanation/blame or argument. On that as well she said - I offered you this before but you did not listen. So basically my impression is whatever mistake happens it has to be the communication problem of the customer. Bizzare! And I must also mention, for some reason the lady kept saying i’m also human, i’m not going to verify anything with my staff etc. as if the customer who is at loss is not human.

Always loved this restaurant and their service & food. Never expected this kind of service from a person sitting on a responsible position at this place.

Very disappointed.

Recommendation to all ordering takeaway - please check your order before collecting and leaving because if by any chance there is a mistake the manager on phone might accuse of miscommunication even though you...
