We booked the gin terrace back in September 2023 for my 30th, and had a great time, so thought we'd do the same for my wife's birthday last weekend. It appears in this time staffing changes, particularly in the pub manager, have been for the worst.

tl;dr: manager falsely told us we'd not met the threshold spend by several hundred with

DO NOT GO HERE RUDE MANAGER WHO DOES NOT HONOUR HIS BOOKINGS I am an agent who makes a large amount of bookings for travel groups across the UK. I thought I would try this pub for 3 of my new groups. I emailed them and all 3 bookings were confirmed back in writing. I had to continually ask for invoices so that payment could be made. The first group attended but complained that the service was chaotic and very slow. When I called to pay for the next 2 groups I was told there was a problem with the booking for one of the groups. When I questioned further I was told that there had been a double booking and because the other group was larger and had paid when making the booking they had to cancel mine. As you can imagine I was very displeased and said that this was not acceptable to cancel a booking with less than 5 working days to go and a group of 55 people. I asked to speak to the manager and was told he would phone me back. Today I emailed them as I had received an invoice for the booking they said they could still honour. I received a call from a man who I had spoken to before and said he was the manager. When I asked him what he could do about the cancelation of the booking he said nothing I asked why he was cancelling and he said I don't have to tell you anything. When I continue to question this he shouted at me saying I should F off and he can run his business how he likes and doesn't have to explain anything to me. He then put the phone down. I am shocked as in all my time in this business I have never experienced...

The atmosphere is lovely but the food was really disappointing. We didn't have a great experience with service- when we went to the bar to order food we were told to hurry up because there was a bigger party about to order (hadn't been told this when we sat down). Fair enough, the menu was new so they were uncertain about items. I ordered the fish cake with bearnaise and a poached egg, with a side of broccoli. The sauce was split when it arrived and looked really grim- had to stir to smooth it out again. The egg was stone cold and I couldn't eat it. We were brought the wrong side (broccoli bhajis) and when I queried it I was told that's what I ordered- I had to ask the server to look at the back of the menu to prove there was another broccoli side. It was a shame bc the pub itself is good and the location...

A beautiful autumn day, sun shining on a chilly city. I am sat by the front window of the unassuming but delightful Bow Street Tavern. A lovely welcome when I arrived and beer, quickly and merrily dispensed. Quirky, incongruous and lovely as all pubs should be, according to their strengths. I enjoyed a lovely cold pint of lager. There is however, much more on offer for those with different tastes. A couple of cask ales, wines from everywhere and plenty more besides. The bar is open and deceptively roomy, also further treats including a rooftop garden upstairs over four floors. A real treat just on the eastern edge of Covent Garden. Most certainly worth a visit!

This is a small but lovely pub with a fascinating interior; it instantly feels like you’re amongst loads of history. The bar staff are welcoming and friendly and there’s a really good range of drinks available considering the size of the place. As well as some stools by the window and standard tables there’s some booths at that rear which are cosy. Toilets are equally as small down some steep stairs in the basement, clean enough though. Prices are reasonable for the area and the unique setting. Overall it’s a really nice place for a drink and a lovely different place in the area - I’ll certainly be returning.

Nice place. Friendly staff. Questionable sandwiches (from my point of view). When I see "Cheddar and apple chutney with balsamic onions", I have a vision of substantially thick slices of cheese with a layer of sliced purplish onions and dollops of some sort of chutney (I'm aware chutney comes in many shapes and forms). I wasn't expecting grated cheese, a lettuce leaf and some bland/sad apple mix. After too long searching, I could not discern if there was balsamic onion or not. The whole thing was disappointing and the lettuce tasted out-of-place. I left feeling unsatisfied. Perfectly cooked chips though.
