Update April 16: returned at the invitation of owner. Must say filter was much better this time. Still not 100% on flavour but definitely not 1 star! Kudos for interest in customer feedback. Much better experience this time.
One thing i would say is am not liking the paper cups for when drinking in -not least on environmental issues. Plus tastes better in ceramic i think. Anyway worth a visit if only to see funky spiral staircase with upstairs seating.
Feb 17: OMG I had the worse filter ever....V nearly threw it away! Was supposed to be single origin from assembly but was too hot, bitter & over extracted. Got worse as it cooled. Not returning here in a hurry & loyalty card will be recycled! That being said it is in a convenient location -as an independent counter to the usual high st culprits, just wished it paid as much attention to brewing better coffee as it did to it's...
Read moreFor a while I was looking for a beginners class for coffee and glad to find Brixton Blend. Gary was very accommodating offering a weekend class. I don't know anything about coffee making but Gary was very patient in explaining, doesn't feel you are being rushed and he ensures you get the idea even if you do 100 times.. Very friendly, on point, not only about the coffee making you can ask many questions about business operations which is helpful I think. I would 100 percent recommend to anyone newbie or not, it's the atmosphere as well - doesn't feel too commercial. The group course was great too and the 1:1 is even better as you can focus on your own confidence with Gary's guidance. It's also a very unique place, chill place if anyone is in the area it's just infront of the Brixton tube. - worth a visit...
Read morePros: the coffee is excellent, the location is convenient, the upstairs room is good to work in and the outside seating is a plus.
Cons: Expensive prices (including a £4 slice of quiche my friend bought that ended up costing 50p more than it was priced at, because "it's a big slice and we haven't got round to changing the price tags yet". Staff also complained to my friend about having to suffer the "horrible" noise coming from outside , by which they meant the reggae singer busking by the station. Seemed harsh as I thought they were pretty good tbh! And what do you expect if you open a coffee shop right opposite Brixton tube?
Overall the product and location are good, but when people complain about the gentrification of Brixton this is probably the sort of place they...
